Dr. Cynthia M Vakhariya, DO

In 2019 Dr. Vakhariya treated me for triple negative breast cancer. I had two tumors that were completely gone after chemotherapy. As of now, the cancer has not returned. I am now seeing Dr. Vakhariya for anemia. I'm confident that her treatment will correct this problem.

Love this doctor -- saved my life

I have stage iv metastatic breast cancer. I had been a patient of another doctor for over ten years when I first saw Dr. Vakahriya. She was filling in for my oncologist while he was on an extended leave of absence. Before he returned I decided to stay on as her patient. Dr. Vakahriya is a meticulous, thorough and compassionate doctor. One who is familiar with current treatment options and continually learning about new options on the horizon. A doctor who doesn't rush, who will carefully listen to me and ask questions to get a complete understanding of my situation. She takes time to explain each test or medication and monitor side effects of each medication. I have been on multiple cancer therapies and each one has extended my life, and I believe this is due to her knowledge and expertise in the disease. She corresponds via phone or email and I've never waited longer than 24 hours for a reply. Dr. Vakahriya is an exceptional doctor with a positive attitude. One who I hope to know for… many more years to come.

I am a 71 year-old male with heart disease. In 2011, my 6-month blood work indicated anemia. My PCP could not see any reason for the problem and referred me to Dr. Vakhariya's office for follow-up. Dr. Vakhariya recommended a bone marrow biopsy to determine the cause of an elevated protein level in my blood. The test revealed multiple myeloma, but not severe enough for treatment. Blood work was monitored every 3 months, and in May 2012, my condition had deteriorated enough to affect kidney function, so chemo was started. After my MM was in remis- sion, I was referred to Karmanos Cancer Center for a stem cell transplant. After my release from Karmanos, I have continued to see Dr. Vakhariya regularly to monitor my condition and prescribe my maintainance meds. I have complete confidence in Dr. Vakhariya and will continue to see her as long as possible. I believe her early diagnosis has improved my chances of surviving the cancer and am grateful for her professional and personal approach… to my treatment. Dr. Vakhariya has been easy to talk to in person and when I email her with a question or concern, she responds quickly.

With much experience and many years, I highly recommend Dr. Vakhirya. For 8 years she has treated my hematology needs, I have been fully and completely assured of Dr. Vakhirya's knowledge and health care decisions on my behalf. She creates an environment for comfortable communication by caring for the person and not just the condition. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. No one wants to need and oncologist, but when I needed one, I knew I already had one. And though I didn't want to have those conversations, they were bearable because I was having them with Dr. Vakhirya. I became her cancer patient, and based on the 8 years of being her hematology patient, I knew I would be cared for in the same manner--with great expertise and knowledge, with gentle authority and a kind heart.

Dr. Cynthia Vakhariya is very knowledgeable and helpful. She takes time to explain the diagnosis, review reports and the recommended treatment options. Since she does not rush thru her patients, sometimes you have to wait longer periods before she sees you because she is attending to other patients and giving them her full attention.

Dr. Vakhariya is an amazing physician. She was extremely patient, supportive and answered all my questions during this difficult moment. She is extremely compassionate and has a great bedside manner. She symbolizes what a true physician should be. She never made me feel she was in a rush. My family and I were very fortunate that she was my physician. I would recommend Dr. Vakhariya highly to anyone who needs a caring doctor who will take their time to provide great care.

Dr. Vakhariya gave my family devastating news about a diagnosis of cancer in one of our family members. She handled all of our questions about end of life and helped guide us through this difficult time. We are grateful for the time that she spent with us.
