I was born in the Deep South, grew up in the Midwest, moved to Northern California starting my professional career at Kaiser Permanente in 1992 as an emergency medicine physician. Today, I am a member of the Department of Dermatology working in Santa Rosa with a special interest in treating skin cancers and skin lesions.
When I practiced emergency medicine, I developed an interest in skin growths and skin cancers. Early in my career, I started working in the Department of Dermatology on a part-time basis in order to pursue this passion. Today, I work …full-time in dermatology and have never looked back. I enjoy the daily challenges in dermatology and especially like getting to know my patients. My department works very closely together and is like a family. It is extremely rewarding to me to be part of a team that provides excellent health care.
Dermatology is a dynamic field with new discoveries and new treatments constantly building on a vast knowledge base. Like emergency medicine, dermatology has many components. One must have a solid knowledge base of medical dermatology, have an understanding of the microscopic world, and perform surgeries when necessary.
I am thrilled to be a physician at Kaiser Permanente. Here at Kaiser Permanente, I feel free to do what's best for my patients. Our integrated system optimizes physician communication, patient follow-up and provides our members with better health care. At Kaiser Permanente there is an emphasis on preventative medicine which greatly appeals to me.
I enjoy living in Sonoma County. The vast array of beauty and opportunities for recreation make it second to none. I have a loving wife who happens to be a dermatologist and 2 children whom I am extremely proud of.
