My 3-yr-old daughter was showing all signs of diabetes, and any lay person would either do a ketones strip test or a blood test for her, but he did not. My wife took her when we suspected she has diabetes, and he only did urine test, which according to him was negative. A week later we asked to be seen again and this time, luckily because he did not have an availability, my 3-yr-old was seen by another pediatrician in the clinic--Vanessa Lowe. I insisted to have a blood test conducted to her, and the doctor complied. Three days later, and after the blood result came back, the doctor told that I was right and her blood sugar was over 550. she advised me to take her and run to the nearest hospital. When I admitted her to Children's National, her blood sugar was close to 800. That day, she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and was placed on insulin. Everyone thanked us for being persistent and pushing DOCTORS to do their job even though we don't have medical degrees.
