Dr. Dane Simons is a fifth-generation family physician from Bay City, Texas, whose family has served Matagorda County since 1893. As a partner at Medical Arts Clinic since 1994, Dr. Simons delivers compassionate, community-focused primary care for patients of all ages, emphasizing continuity, prevention, and personalized treatment.
He earned his M.D. from Texas Tech University School of Medicine in 1991 after completing a B.A. in Biochemistry at The University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Simons completed his internship and residency in Family Practice at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Houston, where he served as Chief Resident and received the Norma Culver Award as Outstanding Senior Resident. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice and holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), trauma care, and neonatal care.
Throughout his career Dr. Simons has held key leadership and …administrative roles in the local healthcare community, including Chief of Staff and Chief of Medicine at Matagorda Regional Hospital, medical directorships for local facilities and EMS services, and service as County Health Authority for Matagorda County. He also contributes to medical education as Community Faculty with UTMB Galveston, mentoring students in rural family medicine, and has served on scientific advisory boards and as a medical consultant for correctional health services.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Simons enjoys life on his river oasis ranch with his wife, Bailey. A former tournament water skier, he still treasures time on the water, trains horses, works cattle, and relaxes with his labradoodle, Noel. He is the proud father of a daughter attending Harvard University and an avid supporter of UT Longhorn athletics.

Dr Simons by far is the best primary care physician I have EVER had. He treats me like a human being and actually listens to me and knows what other details or tests needed to make a timely and accurate diagnosis on how to heal and treat the condition. He has a very pleasant personality , he has always talked to me as an equal, never once condescending the entire staff is equally professional the facility is always clean and comfortable. He has an excellent lab right on site for blood work and other labs. I have hated all my medical appointments for the first 55 years of my life until a coworker referred me to him. I actually looked forward to my appointments. He accepts most insurance policies , unfortunately a year ago I qualified for Medicaid on top of medicare as QMB ( QUALIFIED MEDICARE BENEFICIARY) I JUMPED ON IT BECAUSE MEDICAID PICKS UP WHAT MEDICARE DOESN'T, WITH ZERO OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES. UNFORTUNATELY ITS ONE OF THE FEW PLANS HE DOESNT ACCEPT. MONDAY MORNING I WILL BE… CHANGING BACK TO A PLAN HE TAKES EVEN IF I HAVE TO PAY AGAIN. IM LOOKING FORWARD TO HIS GENUINE PERSONAL CARE, KNOWLEDGE AND BEING TREATED LIKE A HUMAN BEING AGAIN. ILL CLOSE WITH ADDING HE IS EASY ON THE EYES AND HAS THE MOST INCREDIBLE CUSTOM MADE ALLIGATOR BOOTS IVE EVER SEEN.
