Daniel Stein, MD, MHS, FACS

Dr. Daniel M. Stein leads the Department of Urology at George Washington University as Interim Chair, specializing in advanced reconstructive urology and the management of complex urologic conditions. His expertise includes the treatment of urethral stricture disease, urethral and bladder injuries, male urinary incontinence, and neurogenic bladder resulting from conditions such as spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, and diabetic neuropathy. Dr. Stein additionally brings exceptional expertise in genitoplastics and trauma, addressing urologic complications caused by trauma, radiation, and inflammatory diseases like hidradenitis and lichen sclerosus.Dr. Stein's commitment to patient care extends to a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach, ensuring that every patient receives the highest standard of care. He is particularly focused on improving quality of life for individuals with challenging conditions, leveraging both cutting-edge surgical techniques and compassionate, …patient-centered care.With a strong background in public health, Dr. Stein earned a Master of Health Science from Johns Hopkins University, where he focused on international disease control. He completed his medical degree with honors at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, followed by a urology residency at Northwestern University and a fellowship in genitourinary reconstruction and trauma at the Detroit Medical Center.Dr. Stein has published on topics such as reconstructive urology, quality of life in urologic care, and trauma management. He frequently lectures on neurogenic bladder, voiding dysfunction, and reconstructive techniques and has received awards for his excellence in teaching and clinical innovation.Dr. Stein has participated in medical education and surgical outreach trips to Haiti, Guyana, and Rwanda, reflecting his commitment to global health. He remains passionate about continuing this work to bring advanced urologic care to underserved communities worldwide.In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr. Stein is deeply committed to medical education.
