Dr. Bartel has given so much hope when it comes to keeping my Ms under control. He listens to me and helps me to find the best way to to treat the Ms. Thank you Dr. Bartel.

My husband turned to Dr Bartel for severe chronic pain treatment (about 8 yrs ago).His experience was a disaster. When my husband was dragging his feet to have yet another MRI on his back done by a new associate in BARTEL’s clinic with HIS equipment, Bartel had the audacity to tell him if he didn’t do it, he would punish him. My husband already had two MRIs done by two unassociated and respected neurosurgeons done two years apart in his chart. Their assessment was that his medical issues could not be addressed by surgery, physical therapy was out of the question and pain management was his only option. He inevitably did have the MRI, but his insurance would not cover it if it was done in Bartel’s clinic. Dr Bartel would enter the treatment room and after an apportioned five minutes would leave. Questions were not well received. This is after having to wait at least an hour to be called in. When pizza arrived for those in the waiting room, the standing joke among patients was that they would be waiting for yet another hour.

Performed expensive and unneccasary infusions on me which led to heart failure. The man should be castrated and I would love to watch him bleed out

Since he quit painmanagement he left a lot of people in pain and sick. When you call you can only get a recording and leave message that will never be called back. They get in no hurry to send records to another DR. why I don't know. Thank you Dr. Bartel and staff for putting my wife through all the sickness and pain.

Wait time is horrible! He is “nice” but kept ordering tests that were not necessary! Finally switched and so happy with my new neurologist!

Dr. Bartel is truly a blessing and my quality of life wouldn't be the same without his expertise and knowledgement . I suffer from several chronic diseases that cause secondary issues with my neurological system. Dr. B as I call him works closely with my other physicians to ensure I receive the treatment and BEST care possible. I can't Thank Dr. B enough for all that he's done for me!

I feel very confident with Dr Bartel and his knowledge about my diagnosis. He is honest and kind. Feels like family. I’ve had a great experience with all of his staff and Dr. Bartel as well! I trust him completely! Excellent bed side manners! I love Dr. Bartel!

Office staff is very careless about passing on messages for the doctor. Doctor appears to be careless about his patients.

I started seeing Bartel in ‘98 for back issues, a million tests over a course of 10+ years, 2 surgeries & what other doctors said was a lifetime excess of steroid injections that has further deteriated my spine. I’m 52 with the back of a 90 year old. You spend hours in the waiting room (they’ve actually served pizza many times due to patients spending 4 hrs waiting) then when you get into a room it’s another 30 min to an hour wait. I quit going to him when I had enough & my family doctor took care of my pain meds. Recently I had to start going back to him due to my family dr not doing narcotics. Well I waited a month to see him & find that they started over on my chart so all the years & surgery info is gone. Had to have an EMG to just determine I deserve pain meds. ?? I get out to the nurses to get my scripts & they tell me I need a letter stating my MD wouldn’t be prescribing narcotics to me anymore. It’s been over a week since the letter was sent & they claim they never received it. Typical. Been down that road before many times. Dr Bartel is a good dr but his office staff sucks as much now as it did in ‘98. Still haven’t gotten my meds & still have to drive to the main office for a drug test once the letter is received. In the meantime I’m in major pain but honestly they don’t care. I’m merely a number on a chart. I’ll be searching for a new neurologist.

Physician is not interested in the person ; just in making money and ordering test that are not necessary Only wants to prescribe pain medications and not finding the root of the problem

Not only is his staff the worst I've encountered, Dr. Bartel thinks he is God. You will wait hours to see him because he is triple booked. If you need anything such as refills, lab results or records, you're not going to get them. Dr. Bartel will convince you he is the only one you need to see and only he can fix your medical issues even if it is outside of his specialty. Many doctors are knowledgeable about things outside their specialties but Dr. Bartel doesn't have the time nor expertise to take more on than what he's doing now. Trust me when I say he can barely do his own job and take care of his own patients. He should be referring out but he doesn't want to lose the money. The minute you question him, you will see his true colors. He's in it for the money, not the patients. At first I was convinced he genuinely cared as he was so kind and knowledgeable. Now I see I was nothing but a dollar sign and how rapidly my health deteriorated after becoming his patient. If you truly want to get better and be treated with respect, see someone else.

Several visits to Dr Bartels with my mother who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Each appointment involved at least a 2 hour wait in the waiting room then another 30 min to 1 hour wait to actually see the doctor. This is unacceptable regardless of how good of a physician is perceived to be. Sitting in a waiting room with an Alzheimer’s patient for 2-3 hours is like sitting with a restless toddler for 2-3 hours! The double/triple booking of appointments is clearly about the bottom line....money! Seeing as many patients in a day as possible yields more revenue...regardless of how it may affect his patients. Being one of the only neurologist to see patients in Decatur makes it seem like there’s “no choice” but there are choices! We have changed to a neurologist in Ft Worth. Though the drive is an extra 20 min, we are in and out in less than an hour simply because of the respect they have for their patients and how they schedule them! Our last straw was getting a call from Bartels staff stating that he was not seeing patients in Decatur any more and them cancelling our appointment stating they would call to reschedule but never did. When I called to see about rescheduling, I was told he was in fact seeing patients in Decatur and they didn’t know why our appointment was cancelled....not taking responsibility but only making excuses. It was clear that it was time to change neurologist....one with a competent office staff and one with a physician with higher ethical standard. If possible look for choices....they’re out there! You do not have to settle for this kind of care!

I love Dr. Bartel and his nurses. He has helped me more than any other doctor. Unfortunately, the front desk staff and office manager are the rudest, cruel, hateful bunch of people I've ever encountered in a professional setting. They refuse to schedule appointments and tell you to talk to the nurse, sigh, are very snippy and actually bad mouth patients. They've even rolled their eyes at me. I am very sick, but also very kind and a compliant patient. These people are on a power trip and should NEVER work with sick patients again. I'm not the only one to speak on this. At my next appointment, I will be discussing this with Dr. Bartel and hopefully he will have some feedback. If not, I will find another doctor.

Best neurologist I know and seen. I’ve seen several before Dr. Bartel but he was the only one who figured out what caused my seizures.

Been trying over a Month to get my Medical records release and they are refusing to the Staff are rude and cusses the their Patients

I have waited five hours on to see the doctor during my last two visits. This is totally unacceptable and very inconsiderate since I suffer more pain when sitting for long periods of time. Lab results and reports were not forwarded to my family physician as requested several times.

I was diagnosed by Dr. Bartel in 2013 for ms and really trusted this man. went through several treatments with various miserable drugs, not to mention the change this made on my life and family. I quit college for law enforcement and gave up my dreams to be with my family. I finally switched doctors for two reasons. miserable, bully, staff! and horrendous wait times. All day event, and I already lived two hours away. so I found a closer neurologist and after looking at my mri, he said my scan was perfect, no ms! I was angry, and never went back! Dr. Bartel misdiagnose? Never! Went to him for two years, he showed me the new legions with every mri. Never. I just started seeing a new neurologist a couple of months ago and had my first mri in 2 years. He sais I don't have ms, I was misdiagnosed. I just started crying. Just so mad at what that mistake has put my family thru. Has anyone else been misdiagnosed thru Dr. Bartel? My neuro said he has heard some stories.
