Dr. Darlene H Moak, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Moak for more than 3 yrs at MUSC's center for drug and alcohol programs. I can tell you this woman helped helped me completely turn my life around. She listens to me and will prescribe me medicine based on my input.(Most treat you like your dumb and think you have no clue what you need.) I do believe that you must build trust with Dr. Moak, and it will take time and effort, (she has to feel your not lying or scamming her for drugs) but once you do she will treat you like a good friend who needs help. I could say many more positives about Dr. Moak but don't want to be a tldr. To summarize if your a good patient she is a very good doctor.

She has very introverted personality,however at times she shows deep compassion for you. I do think she is misleading Other MD' s as someone who works with narcotics and pain meds. She says she can't give any of your pain meds at all,but according to the previous review she prescribes suboxone. It is the heroin of today and extremely addicting and difficult to get off . Pharmaceutical companies push this big while it is still patented. My problem has nothing to do with this drug.

Dr. Moak treated me for a couple of years for opoid dependence. Reflecting on quality of care I can state with certainty it was poor. I was provided prescriptions of excessive amounts of Suboxone. Instead of attempts to ween me off of medicine she increased doses to above manufacturers specified limits. She just wants repeat patients to fill her pockets. Loves it if you pay her cash. She gets irritated over minor issues such as appointment reschedules, prescription call-ins and above all do not park in her unmarked parking space directly at the front door of her slummy office. Do yourself a favor and select another psychiatrist.
