Dr. Davey Ronald Deal, MD

My experience with Dr. Deal resulted in a search for another gastroenterologist and a strong recommendation to my Primary Care Provider to take Dr. Deal off the referral list. I saw him for a routine colonoscopy. The atmosphere in the office was professional, but rushed. Dr, Deal spent half of the 5 minutes telling me about his hunting experiences. He was curt and appeared to lack interest in me as a patient. This was quite evident at the time of my procedure. I was scheduled for 8:30 am with 5 patients ahead of me. Dr. Deal arrived at 10:15am. My procedure began at 1:50 pm. When I questioned the 5.5 hour wait, Dr. Deal responded with arrogant rudeness. After the procedure, he was again unprofessional and disrespectful, and said that he (Deal) was not responsible if patients could not understand that he was “busy treating patients all over the state.”

When I called to the make the appt originally, the lady I spoke with was extremely rude & I was a little hesitant to even follow through with the scheduling. Then a 2nd lady at the check-in desk, who also handles billing, was rude in person on the day I checked in for my pre-op visit. I had to speak to her again on the phone when inquiring about a billing issue & the same rudeness relayed. In a medical office, the front desk staff is the 'face of your business' and customer service skills should be high priority. I am sure there are other good, professional staff working there & my complaint is not about everyone but the two I dealt with (who seem to be in the position of dealing with the patients directly) are not representing Dr. Deal's office well. The procedure I had with Dr Deal went well and I have no complaints regarding him as a physician.

In Feb. 2019 my husband ended up at the Coliseum Hospital and was admitted for a bile blockage. The Coliseum called in Dr. Deal. We met his PA but never met Dr. Deal. He was suppose to do a test to get a biopsy, that morning he called the room and told me he was unable to do so and recommended he be transported to Navicent Health. But continued to tell me he should not be working because of a horse injury he had. He also cost us an ambulance bill. We were transferred and there Radiologist Department was able to get the biopsy. After days of waiting for results, when I called the Radiology Department was told that Dr. Deal was suppose to call us, that he had pancreatic cancer. We have yet to here from Dr. Deal except for a bill. I wrote him a letter and still heard nothing. My husband had the whipple procedure and is taking chemo. Was called from Dr. Deals office this morning to say he had nothing to say except send the bill over for collections. He is the most… unprofessional and non-caring person I have ever met. I would not advise anyone to go to him.

I had my first appointment today. I was quite pleased with his listening and asking questions. He answered my questions and also said that one procedure I need requires a speciality for which he would refer to a colleague. I highly respect a professional that knows when to refer his patient.

worst doctor i've ever visited

Worst doctor I’ve ever seen in my 27 years on Earth. I’ve been under constant care of a gastroenterologist for about 8 years and have never been so clueless about what is going on with my body or felt as neglected as a patient as I have in my year and a half under Dr. Deal’s “care”. Wait times of nearly three hours every office visit with no explanation or apology. Terrible customer service. Never calls back. Go elsewhere. Anywhere else.

Took over an hour to see him. Not very friendly. Doesn't listen to what you have to say. Acts like he's in a hurry to get to his next patient. I have been going to him for a couple years, but I finally got fed up with it and changed doctors.

After waiting almost an hour, i felt i was being rushed in and out of there. The doctor was not very friendly... acted like he couldn't wait to get out of the room. i do not recommend to any one else.
