Dr. David Alexander Atkins, MD

Absolutely terrible. I think the 5 star reviews might be fake definitely trust the reviewers that this doctor should get his licensed removed because he is confrontational, will belittle you, accuse you, and discard you as a patient if you even slightly question why you’re getting certain medications prescribed or ask questions. He sees this as a threat to his “expertise.” I’ve never felt attacked by a doctor until I saw Atkins for a few appointments. He likes to portray that he’s nice and understanding in the beginning. However, afterwards when he realized he doesn’t need to see you for future appointments he’ll treat you terribly. Worst doctor ever never will I recommend him. He’s so bad that my pharmacist contacted me because there were concerns from other patients too.

Dr. Atkins is so great!!! He takes the time to listen and ask questions about things I don't even notice like is the medication causing any thing like tremors or nightmares etc. He's always trying to make sure that the treatment is the best for me and is always asking to hear my side or if I have questions or suggestions about treatment and listens to me when I say hey can we try this medication instead or it's too high or too low dose. He really cares so I really recommend him he's the best doctor I've ever had the rest didn't even remember my name or care at all .

Not sure how others have had bad experiences- Dr. Atkins is a fantastic doctor and has been very kind and empathetic with my issues. He goes out of his way to help and works hard to find the right treatment and keeps working to make sure it's the best medication and treatment option for me. I would definitely recommend him! He's great!

Listen to the reviews. He likes to act very friendly and nice at the beginning of appointments then he reveals himself like what other people say. Don't waste your time or money on him. He'll attack you and not listen to anything you say if it disagrees with him. He's incredibly unprofessional, dismissive, rude, and I will never recommend him to anyone. I'm actually concerned about how he is still able to practice when he's incorrectly diagnosing people and not treating them with any respect.

I've been seeing Dr. Atkins for a few months now, and he has consistently been caring, attentive, and clinically sound. I trust his expertise in choosing medications, but he has also listened when I've had concerns or questions about a medication and has and adapted the treatment plan accordingly. Every visit he asks me about my family - he even remembered what state I'm from - or my work, and he factors in details unique to my life when thinking about my treatment. I've only ever done phone and video visits, so they are always very brief, but I find that he allows enough time for all of my questions and concerns.

Dr. Atkins revealed himself to be a jerk - no bedside manner, and a confrontational attitude that left my heart racing, as if I was being attacked. As a first-time patient, I thought he would be warm and welcoming, but instead felt belittled and scorned. He accused me of certain behaviors that were untrue and ultimately labeled me with prejudice that prevented me from receiving an honest and open assessment. I was denied proper treatment from Dr. Atkins and have filed a formal complaint with Kaiser for Dr. Atkin's inadequate care. I am concerned that my treatment in his care is symptomatic of his treatment for current and future patients. He would benefit from an administrative review and training to prevent this from happening to others.

Dr. Atkins was extremely rude, confrontational, and even combative. I have never experienced such a hostile attitude from someone I went to seek help from. Dr. Atkins was prejudice in his evaluation and prevented me from receiving an honest and thorough evaluation - ultimately denying me the opportunity to even be treated. I have a deep concern about his ability to provide adequate care for any ongoing or future patients of his! I communicated to him the disappointment in his professionalism and demanded a refund for his services & have issued a formal complaint against him. Too bad!

Dr. Atkins is often condescending, hurried and frankly doesn't seem to care about me as a patient. There have been several instances where I tried to iterate aspects of my care that I needed addressed and Dr. Atkins has always been extremely dismissive of my concerns and experience. It's imperative that a doctor treats their patients with respect, concern and courtesy. Dr. Atkins fails to meet very basic standards and I would not recommend him to anyone seeking treatment.

Dr Atkins spends as little time as possible actually evaluating a patient’s condition and treatment. Don’t question him or ask his plan of action. You’ll get a jackassish response. He doesn’t care about how you feel or how you are reacting to the meds he’s prescribing. He’s at his job to collect a paycheck, not to help people who are seriously affected by mental conditions. I don’t think he cares. A family member has been suffering for a year with no relief under Dr Atkins supervision. A comprehensive evaluation by another physician who asked the right questions and looked at the bigger picture has affirmed how lacking in empathy and competency Dr Atkins really is. Go elsewhere if you want actual help.

Dr. Atkins is a lazy physician who does not care about his patient experience at all. I do not recommend him to anyone.
