Dr. David Joseph Aguiar, MD

Repeatedly, when I discuss my medical issues with Dr. Aguiar he nods as if he's listening. But then I realize from the conversation that he wasn't listening to a word I said.

I was a new patient and it was my very first visit with an OBGYN since finding out I was pregnant. I come in and right from the start his demeanor is cold and he’s rushing and he leaves the room several times to get things, completely unprepared. Goes on to tell me they can’t do an ultrasound today even though I’m 13 weeks and have yet to get one. He said it’s fine I’ll get one next time and proceeds to give me a pap. The whole time I felt very uncomfortable, even as he did my breast exam. He then goes on to say that he’ll find the heartbeat at least for now and only looks for about 2 minutes and then tells me he can’t find a heart beat. Then asks me if I had gotten a positive pregnancy test, how long ago and if I had pregnancy symptoms recently! Which I have had both urine and blood tests come back positive. Now I’m freaking out I think something is wrong, I’m thinking the baby could be dead. He left the appointment. unresolved, me uneasy and had me schedule my follow up with the… girls. Then he runs out and tells the receptionist to schedule me for a ultrasound for this week. So I’m thinking okay something is really wrong, why else would he ask me if I was sure I was pregnant and then try to get me back earlier. I went to a stand alone ultrasound place right after, and found out that everything is okay with the baby. I will never see him again.

Before I found Dr. Aguiar, I had difficulty finding a gynecologist in my new area that was knowledgeable, responsive or available. I would encounter doctors with 2-4 weeks before I could get a basic appointment or who misdiagnosed basic issues. Dr. Aguiar is a gem. He is calm, knowledgeable and kind. His responsiveness is unparalleled. I had an urgent issue and he got me into his office right away, took time to listen, SOLVED the issue that three other doctors could not and absolutely calmed my nerves. I've had a baby and never received a phone call from my doctor that delivered her. With Dr. Aguiar, he called three times to try to reach me to follow up before I picked up. He went through all of my questions thoroughly. I have never spent so much time on the phone with a doctor in my life. I wasn't treated like a number or a paycheck. I was treated like you wish all doctors treated patients. I wish I could give more than five stars. Thank you, Dr. Aguiar.

Dr. Aguiar is extremely informative and thorough. He promptly calls with test results and listens when you have questions to ask. I trust him very much and I always leave appointments feeling cared about and informed.

He is easiest to get an appointment with. He is not rude but he does not volunteer information. We were a slightly higher risk pregnancy and he would say things to raise questions but then leave it up to you to extract further information. He never like to explain anything beyond a surface statement unless you knew exactly what to ask. Everybody's baby is special to them and after a couple losses you are even more fearful. Dr. Aguiar is an excellent doctor...he is the whole package!

I have seen Dr. Aguiar for many years. He has done my routine OB/GYN checkups, delivered a child and performed two surgeries and I couldn't ask for a better doctor. He spends as much time with me as I need and explains everything thoroughly. Dr. Aguiar has a gentle manner and is very kind and compassionate. I have serious health issues and have seen more than my share of doctors. I wish that I could say they were all as good as Dr. Aguiar.
