Dr. Ashkenaze performed a discectomy on both sides of my l4/l5. The disc had burst and was a mess on the mri. He took the time to discuss the dangers, trade offs, and what to expect. He didnâ??t try to oversell me, as others did on getting highly invasive surgery. Day of was great. When I had a concern the following day,he made time for and saw me, and helped. It is now 4 days later and I am pretty much pain free. I was having trouble walking before. I am, compared to reading others experiences, amazed at the recovery, suggesting he had the magic touch during surgery. On a personal level, I found his mannerisms and communication skill far above the other two surgeons I visited.

My mother-in-law went to Dr. Ashkenaze in horrible pain from some collapsed disks. She came out of the operation without any pain and left the hospital 4 days later. She was walking the day after the operation!

I have never had an orthopedic surgeon be as prompt as Dr. Ashkenaze. He has a tremendous personality and wonderful bedside manner. The two operations he performed, one on me and one on my mother, both were extremely successful.

2003 I had carpel tunnel surgery by Dr. Ashkenaze. My surgery was so easy that I listened to a cd and asked the Dr. to please use alot of novecane so I could remain awake ,which he honored. The recovery was about as painless as a headache and I only needed 7 xtra strenghth Tylenol's.Dr.A. followed the natural lines in my hand and the minimal scar is hidden in my upper palm. I am now needing my other hand fixed and look forward to seeing Dr. Ashkenaze. He is a very kind and considerate Dr.and he smiles alot. :-} I recommend Dr. Ashkenaze for anyone needing orthopedic treatment and I look forward to seeing him again.

Dr. Ashkenaze spent considerable time with me and my husband discussing the problem and solution to his intractable sciatica. He performed an incredible outpatient minimal-invasive discectomy. The preoperative searing pain was gone in the recovery room, and he only took 1 pain pill following surgery. He was back to work in a few. How lucky we were to be referred to this incredibly gifted and caring surgeon.
