Dr. David Maxwell, MD

I have what you call a zebra disorder. Many doctors brush you off and want to give you a million common diagnosis, instead of giving you the one rare that would explain everything. Most physicians don’t even know what Ehlers Danlos is, sadly. My anxiety was so bad that day that it would be the same crap I received from previous doctors. But Dr. Maxwell knew about EDS, he knew the criteria needed for a diagnosis. And he really listened to me and gave me great advice. He took the extra step to get further tests done because EDS patients are known to have mitral valve prolapse and aortic root dilation. It was so refreshing to not only have a doctor who knew about my disorder, but who cared. So thankful for this doctor!

Dr. Maxwell is the best of the best! He figured out what was causing my symptoms, and did so very quickly. He takes time to explain things and answer questions, and you leave his office with a print-out of everything you discussed, including diagnoses, treatment plan, meds, and future appointments. His staff is very courteous and friendly. I’m so grateful to have found him.

I was his patient in 2015 when the first time that I found out that I have a rheumatoid arthritis . I’m in so much pain so when a got the appointment I was happy and looking forward finally I’m gonna have a relief with my agonizing pain I have . When I visited the time I did get to him it’s another that doing his practice anyway his good he listens and take notes however when the second visit I saw Dr Maxwell so was expecting that his much attentive and more knowledgeable and be able to help me more on the pain and explain more about my deceased ....... come to find out it’s a big NO !!!! He did not have me a clear answer . He just told me to take the meds that he prescribed and he will see me the next appointment.....that’s the end of my visit .

Girl who answers phone is so unprofessional and rude. Honestly, made me cringe to have to talk to her. Waited 7 weeks for an appointment as new patient to find out the day before the appointment I would be seeing a physician's assistant and that I would see his highness for the last 10-15 minutes of the appointment. That is despicable, especially for a newly diagnosed, new patient. I am pretty sure my insurance would like to know that they are paying for a specialist for their clients to see a physician's assistant. I cancelled the appointment, willing to wait for another appointment somewhere else. Also, the girl in the office kept telling me that "he da only one on dis side of da water" that takes my insurance. Newsflash, he is NOT! People, do your homework, work with your insurance. They will guide you to a list of in network providers, you can call one of them and schedule an appointment, then your insurance will change the information in their system and fax the… authorization. It is that simple. You do not have to be treated so badly!

I was apprehensive going to this appointment after reading some of the reviews on this site. I am not sure what happened with some of the previous reviewers, but my experience was fantastic! My appointment was scheduled for 10 a.m. I arrived at 9:20 and was greeted by a super friendly receptionist. I had downloaded and completed my paperwork at home, so all I had to do was complete short form or two and have a seat. I had no sooner turned on my tablet to play a game and Dr. Maxwell's nurse called me back. As she took my vitals and asked the usual medication questions, she was very friendly and easy to speak with. She no sooner walked out of the room and Dr. maxwell came in. I swear it couldn't have been more than a minute or two. I have NEVER been seen by any doctor so quickly! Dr. Maxwell could not have been more friendly. He really has a warmth about him; he was not pretentious at all and was really down to earth. He took his time examining me, asked me a lot of questions, and at… no time did I feel rushed. He went to great lengths to explain my condition, treatment, medications, side effects and prognosis (this guy knows his stuff). I really felt he had a genuine concern for my health. My only complaint is that he cannot be my primary care provider.

I was surprised at the reviews on him here. I guess people write reviews usually when they are upset, but I was very worried after reading these reviews. I saw him today and it was a great appointment. One of the best doctors I've ever had and the staff were kind and the nurse made me laugh and was so friendly and the doctor is very knowledgable and I know he actually cares about my health. I called him "psychic" at one point because he just knew so much about what was going on with my body. I'm sick and he didn't treat me like just another sick person, but like an actual person with feelings. He made jokes and I am really happy to know that he and his staff will be involved in my treatment. I recommend him fully and I am shocked at just how different of an experience I had than others on here. I hope that some of you decide to go back because he is such a knowledgable doctor and maybe he has new staff or something because they were all so kind and polite. This is the first review I've… ever written and I did so because I had such a wonderful experience today and I think people should see positive reviews too! =-)

Great doctor but his front office staff is HORRIBLE, he should fire everyone in there. They are rude and discourteous to his patients.

Dr Maxwell is a capable doctor but he has his wife as the office manager. How he keeps patients I don't know. I called the office to ask that dr. Maxwell call me. She answered the phone and told me to tell her what the question was I wanted to ask. I said she was not a medical professional and I would prefer to not have to elaborate with her. She told me I was rude and that she would not tell the doctor that I called and she hung up on me! I will be leaving this practice.

I never got a true diagnoses after seeing him for over a year, every possible medical test procedure and got nothing. But they had no problem taking my money. I took a friend with me to an appointment as she is more vocal than I when she ask a few questions the doctor responded you brought 20 questions with you today as he looked at my friend. When I was finally approved for medicaid I was unaware their office didn't accept it. As I have always paid cash but when I offered my medicaid number I was told "we don't take medicaid" stated the receptionist. The receptionist mentioned it to another lady of higher authority when the lady stated "TO BAD" directly to my face. When I ask if I could still pay in cash Dr. Maxwell said no and mumbled something about being illegal as he rudely walked out of the room. I am very understanding, quiet and respectful but this is uncalled for.

I have to agree with the other negative ratings with 1 exception. Dr. Maxwell hires his awful staff, and they are rude only because they are following his direction. What else could it be? I recommend staying away from this doctor. You won't be under his "care" long enough to get any help, and it will end badly.
