Dr. David Caborn, MD

Fantastic surgeon who cares and is exceptional. 2 partial knee replacements and bilateral alignments make me an expert!!

Dr. Caborn has been my doctor for many years I have had both knees replaced and other knee surgeries as well. He is a gift to Kentucky for sure!

After a skiing accident, I had an MCL evulsed from the bone, torn ACL, partially torn PCL, sheared off medial and lateral meniscus, ruptured capsule, and bruised tibial plateau. After 1 complex surgery and several months of rehab, I was back running and active. Dr. Caborn is experienced and capable.

Due to an ATV rollover accident, it's a wonder I my leg was still attached to my knee - ACL, PCL, MCL, sprain of MCL, and small impact fracture! In steps Dr. Caborn to the rescue at Shea Orthopaedics in Louisville, KY. I had pre-physical therapy, surgery, and post-physical therapy the very next morning. With all of my hard work and Dr. Caborn's capable hands, I returned to work and exercise in just three months!

I have a lot of respect for Dr. Caborn. He has helped me so much with my knee that at least I can enjoy my life without so much pain. I would highly recommend him to anyone. I never feel rushed an he takes his time with me. He is a great doctor

Dr. Caborn performed ACL surgery on my daughter. Despite some other reviews he was always professional, he explained completely the procedure, he spent the time necessary to evaluate her recovery progress, he asked for questions and answered all questions, and he was polite and courteous. Half the time the office wait was less than 45 minutes, and the other visits ranged from 1 hour to 3 hours on the last one. Still no complaints on Dr. Caborn. My daughter was released and is back to her sport with absolutely no problems. His communications and relationship with Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy is nothing less than top of the line. I would recommend anyone with an ACL injury to see Dr. Caborn. My only complaint would be the office that Dr. Caborn works in. 90 days after surgery they refuse to file the office visits as post-op visits. They file as an office routine visit and require a co-pay. I confronted them and their reason is they participate in a "Global Payment Policy… Concept". No one in the office explains this policy until after they begin to charge you for post-op office visits. This is not a Dr. Caborn thing, but an office practice. My insurance said they would continue to pay for post-op care, but Shea Orthopedic Office refused to code the visit accordingly. In our opinion Dr. Caborn is a leader in the repair of this type injury.

He did the 2nd ACL-medial meniscus reconstruction and had me up and walking (with PT) within a week. Has a good reputation and deserves it. Only bad thing is that it takes a long time to get in to see him (to get an appt). He and the Shay group are known as some of the best in their field.

He did the 1st of my five knee surgeries, and I feel that is why I've had to have 5. My first ACL was done by hik when I was 15. I honestly think it was don't by his student. I was in so much pain afterwards I would passout when standing for the 1st couple of weeks after surgery. My rehab was slower than slow. He promised me to be back in 3-4 months. At the 3 month period he did another surgery and didn't really give an explanation on what really had to be fixed. Then months later when I was still having severe pain he started canceling and rescheduling my appointments. This went on for 6 months and I finally went to another doctor. I was a high school freshman starting varsity to not being able to complete a full season the rest of my high school career. My teen years consisted of surgery and rehab. I drove 4 hours to see him, I waited over 2 hours to get in on most visits, and he couldn't spend 5 minutes doing his job.
