Dr. Charnock is a graduate of NY Medical College 1984 and is a Board Certified Physician and surgeon. He completed his general surgical internship in Bethesda at the National Naval Hospital with affiliation and rotation at the National Hospital in Washington, DC. This was followed by one year as General Medical Officer in Rhoda, Spain and Gulfport, Mississippi attached with the Navy SeaBees Combat Construction Battalion #7. Further residency training was accomplished for Otolaryngology, Head and Neck surgery and General Surgery at the Oakland Naval Hospital in California with affiliations and rotations at San Francisco General Hospital, Oakland County Hospital, and UC Davis California Medical Center. Dr. Charnock completed his obligation with the U.S. Navy in 1992 as Department Head at Naval Hospital Guam in the Marianas Islands. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and also a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. While in Vermont he has been the past president of the Rutland County Medical Society and counselor to the Vermont Medical State Society. Currently, he is Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery, Section of Otolaryngology, at the University College of Vermont School of Medicine. Dr. Charnock served as an advisor to the director of the Office of Professional Regulation for the Vermont Secretariat of the State in matters regarding hearing aids. He also is the ENT Specialty Advisor to the Vermont State Medical Society and serves on the Editorial Board for the Peer Reviewed American Journal of Rhinology.
His specialty interests include General Otolaryngology with additional focus on swallowing and voice disorders, allergy and sinus surgery, snoring, sleep apnea and thyroid disease, thyroid surgery. He is currently licensed by the Board of Medical Practice for radiation privileges and operates the office head CAT scan unit for patient point-of-care contact with immediate review of CAT scan images in the office with his patients.
