My name is Mark. I found Doctor Ditsworth researching some of my medical issues on the internet. I came across this business, researched them and decided that this would be a great option for me. The reason that I went is because I have been dealing with lower back issues for the past 35 years. I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis, disc degeneration, and just had a life where I have had to watch what I do for fear of having those lower back issues affect my daily life. I did see some orthopedic surgeons in my area prior to going out and they recommended that I have a laminectomy. I did not want to get that type of surgery done. I have been trying to avoid surgery my whole life and so it was good to research all the options out there to see what the recommendations were. I had seen several chiropractors who knew a lot of the surgeons in the area and what they recommended. After doing very thorough research I decided that my best option was to go out to the Back Institute. I had some very serious pain in my lower back around Thanksgiving that was severely hampering my entire lifestyle. I could not drive a car. I could not stand for more than ten minutes and I could not sit. The only thing I could do to find pain relief was to recline; so I was in pretty bad shape. I started to work from home and rested and the pain level got better to where I was kind of stable and I was not in the major pain level. I would say on a scale of one to ten, I was about an eight to nine. My experience at the Back Institute was wonderful. The people at the Back Institute were extremely professional, gracious, friendly. It all seemed very connected in the theory of what they do which is amazing. For anybody that has spine issues, you can sympathize for the kind of pain you go through and to me, the best option out there is to do the most minimally, and this is true, really minimally invasive surgery where there is no secondary, unneeded destruction getting to the source of what they go to fix. There is no cutting of bone, no cutting of muscle, separation of muscle, anything. I had a tiny, little nick made on my back and that was it. I feel great. I do not think I could have asked for anything more. I was able to walk immediately after my surgery and it has been wonderful. I thank everyone at the Back Institute and can only give it my highest recommendations to anybody that is out there exploring options for their spine issues.
My chiropractor recommended the Back Institute and the main reason that I went is that is I was suffering. I had my first surgery. I had a regular laminectomy about five years before I got this procedure at the Back Institute, if you will, and I was having severe back pain, throwing my back out two or three times a year, leg pain, numbness, anything you can think of; not being able to get out of bed, not being able to go to work. I did see another surgeon beforehand and he recommended the regular laminectomy surgery again, but I did not want to do that because of the prior one, you know, that surgery takes quite a few weeks to even start physical therapy. I wound up with scar tissue. So when I came in over at the Back Institute, I got my procedure done. I went home that day. As soon as I woke up the pain was gone. The numbness was gone. The, you know, excruciating leg pain, all that was gone. That was about a year ago, and I am very happy.
I found the Back Institute from a website online after searching for a couple months, figuring out what to do after I discovered my problem. I had a really bad herniated disc on L5. It was pretty bad. Basically my life turned into just laying in bed and crying. I was in so much pain. It was the most excruciating pain I have ever felt in my whole, entire life. One of the reasons that I came here, to Back Institute, is because I had been scheduled for surgery and the surgery was explained as pretty severe. They were going to cut into the bone, removing some of the L5, cut open my back and get to the problem that way, and I am young and I thought I have my whole life to live and it just does not sound good to me to have that kind of operation. When I found the Back Institute, everything I read felt right. It seemed right. It felt good and I knew that I would be in good hands.
