Dr. David Darcy Dowling, MD

I have so much to be thankful to Specialty Obstetrics of San Diego for! Their amazing staff - Kiera and Cindy, Dr. Duerbeck, and Dr. Dowling are awesome. I had to be seen every week to monitor my cerclage and incompetent cervix. After so many miscarriages at other dr's offices, Specialty Obstetrics were committed to making this baby happen! I was even in the hospital for two weeks around week 22 and they somehow kept my baby cooking until 40 weeks. My heart was broken in the past with all of my losses and they knew to give me 100%! I can not say enough good things about each Dr. I LOVE THEM!

Dr Dowling and his staff are absolutely top notch. They truly care about my and my babies health, providing every opportunity to answer any questions I might have. I have never felt rushed and Dr. Dowlings bedside manner is unbeatable. I would go back in a heartbeat, and cannot recommend this practice enough!

My wife is pregnant with a IFV baby, and our IVF doctor, Dr. Samuel Wood (who is excellent by the way) referred us to go specifically see Dr. David Dowling. Although it wasn't easy to make an appointment (the front desk ladies are not very helpful), all our paperwork and communications on the phone were cleared that we wanted to see Dr. Dowling himself, not someone else in the clinic. We finally had an appointment to se Dr. Dowling yesterday late afternoon. First, the front desk ladies were not friendly, never asked how we were doing, or nothing "human", they just ask for the zillions of forms we had to fill out before our first appointment and for the insurance information. Our appointment was at 3 PM, but we waited one hour before being called in the back. A nurse, who was nice, did the ultrasound and then left us in the small room, waiting to see the doctor, Dr. Dowling we assumed. To our surprise and disappointment, another older doctor entered the room. We asked him why… we were not being seen by Dr. Dowling, as requested and as expected. He said Dr. Dowling was not in the office, but he would transmit our request to Dr. Dowling and we should be able to see him in person next week for the follow-up appointment. Today, someone from his staff called us, and rudely said that we were a no show yesterday (which is completely false, we were there, they did an ultrasound and we were seen by a doctor, just not Dr. Dowling as planned!), and that they don't want to submit our insurance authorizations to United Healthcare, like they are supposed to, and that Dr. Dowling does not want to see my wife as a patient and that we are not welcome to come back to their clinic!!! Totally disappointed with Dr. Dowling and his staff. We are checking with our attorney to see what legal actions can be taken against him and his totally rude and unprofessional behavior!

Specialty Obstetrics is the best ever. I would recommend to anyone!

If you want the best care possible by two ridiculously smart and skilled physicians, Drs. Dowling & Duerbeck at Specialty Obstetrics should be your choice. They and their staff provided me with excellent care during my high risk pregnancy and got me further along than anyone expected. The result? Happy and HEALTHY babies AND mommy. This two-doctor practice is nice because you know you'll either see one or the other (or the one other doctor that covers for them in the hospital on the rare occasion) instead of some of the practices staffed with six or ten who shuffle you around depending on the schedule. Doctors Dowling and Duerbeck provide a level of care that is both professional and personal. They love what they do and they truly care about their patients. As a woman faced with a high-risk pregnancy, scared of the possible complications, it made all the difference in the world to receive that extra level of care. Oh, and they have PERSONALITIES! They aren't cold emotionless… physicians who shuttle you in and out. They take the time to answer your questions and and address your concerns... exactly what the best doctors should do. I would recommend Specialty Obstetrics to anyone!

Dr. Dowling is an excellent doctor. I saw him during my high-risk pregnancy during the last 5 months. He was very professional, caring, compassionate and always made me feel at ease. He included me in all decisions about my pregnancy, hospitalization and delivery. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Dowling to anyone that is a high-risk pregnancy.

Well, I completely disagree with the last comment written about Dr. Dowling. Although I was going through a really rough time when I met him, I am glad I had the opportunity to call him my doctor. He saved my life and that of my miracle baby. From the time I met him he was very careful to diagnose my condition accurately. And when they had trouble finding the source of the problem, he kept digging because he believed me, even when my own doctor didn't. 48 hours after meeting Dr. Dowling, I had a diagnosis and was taken into emergency surgery. This decision was made by him, and saved our lives. I recommend him to everyone! He is truly an amazing doctor!
