Dr. David Edward Tate, MD

This Doctor acts as if he is sleeping and just going through the motions as if he hates what he does. He has no patient skills in communication or has forgotten them. I told him I was in pain, he replied, "I know" yet never asked if I was in pain, or if I experienced any limitations of activities or anything else for that matter. I have never met a Doctor like this, ever.

I do not know what patients expect from their physician. I found Dr. Tate to be most gracious, brilliant, and very compassionate. People see physicians to treat an ailment. Isn't this what they received from Dr. Tate? He is excellent at what he does. He is kind and comforting. If you are looking for a bar buddy, a doctor's office is not the place to find one. Highly recommended. Can't find a better and more professional doctor.

Easy to get an appointment, but once there you see why.... Who would go to a physician who does not listen. After waiting about 20 minutes in the room, Dr came in, asked why I am there. While I am answering him, he is obviously not listening to me, but rather listening to a conversation outside in the hall. I try to repeat some of what I am telling him, but he is still distracted and seems to not listen to what I say. Now without any response he leaves the room, returns a little later and its as if I have told him nothing, he discuses my problem as if I was a different patient, with different symptoms! I leave the facility frustrated and a bit angry, knowing I have just wasted my money and time.

Rude, Arrogant, Dismissive, lack of compassion and made no effort to help me. Stood up to leave to leave the room while I was still talking. Refused to answer questions and got angry because I asked questions about my problem.

After waiting 1 hour and 45 minutes beyond my appointment time, Dr. Tate presented as irritated, unethical, and down right disrespectful. He had NO concern for my medical condition nor was he willing to offer any type of diagnosis or assistance in figuring out the problem in my hand. Worst experience I have EVER had with a so-called doctor. Zero ethical standards as outline by the AMA. Do not visit this doctor.

I am shocked by the unhappy experiences of the other reviewers. I was recently treated by Dr. Tate for a trigger finger release and could not have been more delighted with all aspects of my care. Having had the same surgery (different finger) by another doctor the year before, I had a good idea of what to expect. I was not inclined to waste time with steroid shots or a month of exercises or in-home treatment that would only delay my relief. Given my history, Dr. Tate agreed to schedule surgery based on this first appointment. We also discussed anesthesia options, the ultimate decision for which was clearly my own. This initial consultation was rather brief, but I did not feel rushed or that Dr. Tate was in any way dismissive. It was one of the more collaborative medical consultations I've ever had. One week prior to surgery, a pre-op appointment and a packet of patient advisory materials were quite helpful. On the day of surgery, the entire nursing and surgical team was… attentive, focused and pleasantly cordial while keeping me informed at each step of the preparation. Follow up appointment was timely and Dr. Tate fully addressed the one or two questions I had. I would not hesitate to use Dr. Tate for any arm or hand problem I might have in the future, and I would recommend him to anyone without reservation.

This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor. I broke my elbow on a Thursday and was seen in his office on Friday. I had a MRI and several X-rays already taken which upon viewing he ordered more X-rays. After the nurse brings me back from the X-ray, I see him and three other Doctors reviewing my MRI, he then proceeds to come into my room and say "Let me see that elbow." (No hello I'm Dr. so and so, how are you, nothing.) I then take off my sling and after he takes a quick look at my arm he says "I've never seen anything like this before, and I fix broken elbows by the bushel load. I'm going to have to send you to a specialist, it appears to be some kind of tumor. I don't know if it was there before the break or not. Sorry, I don't know what to tell you." So the whole weekend my family and I think I have some type of rare bone cancer. I then see the Dr. Price (who happens also to work for Norton Health Care) he comes into my room and says what you have is normal… it is blood and fluid from your fall. Dr. Price then proceeds to tell me that Dr. Tate did the right thing by sending me over to be sure and that Doctors typically don't look at MRI after breaks. All the while I have a standing appointment for Dr. Tate for the following Friday. I don't know if this was a case of insurance fraud or what but I would stay far far away from Dr. Tate and Norton Healthcare orthopedics in general. Never again!

Please don't waste your money or time. The other reviews are spot on!
