Dr. David Schwartz, MD

Dr. Schwartz was the first doctor is 15 months to successfully diagnose and treat my increasingly debilitating pain. None of the other doctors came anywhere close or were willing to go the "extra mile" to determine what was wrong with me. The surgery was frightening to contemplate, but it was carefully explained. Recovery plans were explained in detail. Dr. Schwartz's PA, Kate, was amazing in her knowledge and ability to communicate and assure us. His office staff is incredibly professional and kind. I highly recommend Dr. Schwartz to anyone seeking medical care for the types of problems he covers.

My first meeting and last was very negative. He introduced himself and made if clear" he had all the information he needed." Which translates to he doesn't want to listen to anything I have to say. I have a serious neck issue and wanted a second opinion. Dr. Coscia stated in the future surgery will be needed and explained the grinding and deterioration. Dr. Schwartz says it's arthritis. In view of today it was a waste of my time and the money my insurance paid. I would have had more respect if he would have saved me the time and simply stated he wasn't interested. Perhaps he needs to learn how to listen and hear the needs of folks rather than casting judgement BEFOE he meets the new patient. I would not recommend this physician to anyone.

He is so courteous, by far the best in Indiana. Stopped going to a spine doctor and found him online, and he is by far the most caring spine surgeon I've had. He honestly has saved my life by performing the surgery I needed. He's improved my life, and I honestly couldn't have asked for a better person to do my surgery. Great guy, would recommend him to anyone!

Terrible bedside. Very arrogant. If i have to hear about the south African girl he did surgery on again I will vomit! Not proactive enough for me. He will just fix you when you need surgery.

Very disappointed. He spoke definitively about procedures at one visit and then said something entirely different the next visit - with no changes on my part. Very dismissive, spent only a couple of minutes with me and gave the impression he was bored, irritated and wanted out of there.

This was the worst experience I ever had a doctors office. He didn't read any of my information, the form I had filled out for his office or the sheet I had typed out and brought in, describing everything that has happened and medications that have been tried so far. I didn't see him, until 2.5 hours into my appt and then he comes in unprepared. He had an assistant who read over my information with me, understood everything and said she was going to discuss it with him before he saw me. 25 minutes later be came in and it was bad from the start. He was a jerk. He said he didn't know what was wrong with me, but he could inject me. Really, you don't know what's wrong with me, by you'll inject me. I asked what he would inject me with, he said steroids. I had discussed my allergy to steroids with his assistant, who responded "No steroids for you!" This confirmed he hadn't spoke with assistant about me. My first idea came when he came in and asked about my neck pain. I had… explained to his assistant I don't have neck pain. I even crossed out the neck area on the sheet and hand wrote shoulder. The ironic thing is that I now have neck pain and have had it since he did his physical exam on me. I don't blame him for that, I don't feel it was intentional on his part, just ironic that the only thing I got from his visit more pain and a bill. I would run from him, he's a waste of space. I had read reviews of him on the web and a lot said he was arrogant. I'm in pain and wanted to get in ASAP to see someone. Now I realize why I could get in, he probably doesn't get a lot of repeat patients.

I had the worse experience with him. I had to wait over 2 hours and then he spent 5 minutes with me. Dr Schwartz is arrogant and rude. I have had a good experience with Ortho Indy but this experience makes me not to want to ever go back to Ortho Indy.

My daughter has CP and required Scoliosis surgery. What could have been a very traumatic surgery for a little girl, she grew to be very fond of him. She had a prior surgery to harvest a rib bone for graphing, followed by another surgery 3 weeks later to perform the actual straightening procedure. He met her with a smile, and knowing what was happening, she quietly went back into the surgery room with him "smiling". Shes terrified of dentists, but for him to conquer her support like he did says alot. This was 6 years ago and she is fine still, but cant imagine what would've happened if he didnt help her. Her spine folded over into a "Z" with a 105 degree bend. A-1 in my book!

Dr. Swartz was professional, but failed to help my husband with his cervical problems. He stated my husband did not have anything that required surgery. We were seen by another neurosurgeon who stated my husband needed surgery to fuse levels 3 and 4. He offered no assistance to help my husband's severe neck pain.

I was saw a wonderful PA who went over my complete history and then I saw Dr. Schwartz. He was pleasant and thorough, asked all the appropriate questions, studied the xrays and other tests I had supplied and then ordered another ct scan. He called me personally to discuss the results and his recommendations. We scheduled surgery and he was great at the hospital. (Indiana Orthopaedic Hospital and the staff was incredible!) I am completely satisfiend and will continue seeing him as needed and am happy to recommend him.
