Dr. David H. Goltz, MD

Very informative and helpful

Dr. Goltz is a great doctor. I liked seeing him teach a new resident (or intern).

Dr Goltz is a treasure.

Our teenage daughter ruptured her Achilles and we used Dr. Goltz for the surgical repair. A month after surgery she developed an infection so bad it required emergency surgery. We repeatedly took her into his office with concern and he was dismissive and rude. Even after the surgery to flush her infection she developed ANOTHER infection that resulted in having her bone scrapped, a wound vac installed, and 3 more surgeries. She was in a boot, cast, or wheelchair for months and needed plastic surgery and months of PT. DO NOT USE GOLTZ!!!

I met with Dr Goltz in May of 2019 regarding my knee pain and swelling. He was condescending, not sympathetic, and unwilling to consider options other than a knee replacement. I went to another doctor who was the opposite and now I am pain free without a knee replacement.

Missed the diagnosis. Wasted my time and money, was patronizing and dismissive. Visit 1: Treated like a hypochondriac: you'll have to 'live with the pain'. Visit 2: 'What do you want me to do about it?', he said. (Imaging, I said. I get an MRI.) Visit 3. Goltz and the interpreter see the torn hamstring, and.... miss the avulsed (torn) obturator internus. I got a 2nd opinion at UCSF - she found the problem in the same pics. You had one job.

I had a shattered kneecap and first consulted with this doctor and he said he was going to need to remove the top third of the knee and was going to only use pins. I fortunately got a second opinion from DR Morshed at UCSF who said with a new medical technology he would most likely be able to reassemble the cap and it worked. If DR Goltz had been a responsable doctor he would have reccomended I go to a trauma Doctor like DR Morshed. If it had not been for a spine doctor who lives down the street who told me I needed to go to a trauma doc I would have lost a chunk of my kneecap. Never go to DR Goltz he hides information and leaves you in the dark and does not care.

I had torn my knee (and leg) up horribly: The ACL was completely torn through, as were the MCL and PCL. The meniscus was in seven pieces. The knee and ankle were sprained and badly bruised, and the MRI showed a broken and slightly displaced tibia. All in all, a total mess. Dr. Goltz asked me quite a few questions about my physical activity (limited due to multiple back surgeries) and what I wanted. Ultimately he told me that ACL's do not regenerate, but people who do minimal athletics (no skiing, soccer, basketball, etc.) like me can live without an ACL, and that surgery has risks (I'm in my mid-60's). Well, six months of intensive PT left me with pretty much all the abilities I had before, except a feeling that my side to side stability in that knee is lacking. I always had the sense that Dr. Goltz was caring and deeply interested in what was best for me. And since he was the doctor for the USA ski team, I suspect he knows a lot about knees!

Dr. Goltz was the doctor on duty when I was in Marin General Hospital recovering from major shoulder surgery. The nerve block had been incorrectly administered and when it wore off I was in excruciating pain, shaking like an animal and wailing in pain - like nothing I've experienced in my life. The experienced nurses wanted to give me drip sedatives but Dr. Golz refused to give approval and instead left me to writhe in pain for 6 hours until finally a new doctor came on duty and said this was crazy and they immediately needed to sedate me. The Marin General staff, including administrators, were shocked by Dr. Goltz lack of concern, care and professionalism and he was strongly reprimanded from the head of patient services, which went on record. He expressed no contrition and made no apology. I would not want Dr. Goltz as my doctor!

He was one of the most pretentious people I have ever met.
