My practice focuses on minimally invasive surgery of the spine. I am a very conservative surgeon when it comes to offering neurosurgical intervention. I treat disorders of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spines. Such conditions as cervical spondylosis, cervical radiculopathy, cervical myelopathy, as well as, cervical pain and headaches related to the cervical spine are common entities I evaluate. In the area of the lumbar spine, I see quite commonly patients with lumbar spinal stenosis and lumbar disc herniations.

Herniations of cervical and lumbar regions are entities that I commonly evaluate. The radicular syndromes related to the lumbar and cervical spine regions are also areas I focus on.

I feel that surgery should be considered as a last resort.

Dr MacDougal performed lumbar decompression surgery on my back on disks L3 – S1 with full and partial laminectomies on 12/21/22 and it was lifechanging for me. I had degenerative disks, bilateral spinal stenosis, cysts and Rheumatoid Arthritis in my lower back causing significant nerve compression. Prior to my surgery I couldn’t stand or walk for more than 5 minutes before needing to sit down, I had to use a shower chair and I even had to sit down to brush my teeth. The pain was intense, debilitating and constant, it radiated from my back all the way down to my toes, causing numbness, tingling and instability, every step was painful and dangerous as I had several falls. I knew I would end up in a wheelchair if I didn’t get help, so I scheduled an appointment with Dr MacDougal on the advice of my chiropractor he recommended him highly and I'm very glad I took his advice. Dr MacDougal is very caring and attentive, he listened to what I had to say, went over my MRI with me… and explained what they showed in a very understandable way, he answered any questions I had and explained what needed to be done and how he could help. He's very straight forward and conservative in his approach to surgery which I appreciate very much. The surgery was scheduled and performed very quickly without any issues and was very successful! They got me up to walk a few hours after surgery and I knew immediately surgery was successful I felt surgery pain, but the pinched nerve pain was gone! I’m a month out of surgery and my recovery is going very well, I can stand and walk without pain, and I just started P.T. I'm on the road to recovery after 15 year of back issues and it feels Great! I thank God for this wonderful healing and for the skill he blessed Dr MacDougal with he is an excellent surgeon, and I highly recommend him. Thank you, Dr MacDougal, for the great work you do, I'll always be grateful to you.

I wouldn't trust anyone else to work on me except Dr. Macdougall. He did a neck surgery and lumbar surgery on me, and I was pain free afterwards. Fantastic doctor, cares about his patients, and makes sure you get the best hospital care possible.

Dr MacDougal is one of the two best Dr's Ive ever been to. He is very straight forward, gets to the point but also has a very caring spirit. He was so good through all my recovery and was very down to earth. Would recommend him to anyone needing anything along these lines. If I ever have any issues Ill always go back to him.

Dr.Macdougall did a bilateral decompression on me and now I can sleep on my stomach. I can also lay flat on my back which is a blessing.

Don’t waste your time and money. He does not care in the slightest about your welfare. His focus is strictly monetary. Leeann his PA is rude and makes no effort to conceal her hatred for patients.

I worked alongside Dr. MacDougall as a resident and then was a patient of his for difficult C4-C5 anterior fusion with instrumentation. David is a very soft spoken, kind, caring doctor that I had the privilege of working with for many years. I only wished that my medical care of my CRPS had been cared for by him, but they sadly made me work with Anesiologists/Pain doctors who did what they could but I did not feel as cared for as Dr. David MacDougall did. He really tried to help me as much as he could. I really miss you and the safe trust I felt in your hands. He is just a wonderful neurosurgeon, doctor, caring man. There are none better! I have known many doctors.

I had stenosis of the spine. He said surgery was the only solution. He performed the surgery and I have had absolutely no trouble for 3 years.
