Dr. David Alan Mcnamara, PhD

My son began seeing Dr McNamara for depression, and he improved greatly under his care. After his depression lifted, Dr. McNamara went to work on my son's tourettes. He had seen a neurologist who tested his tourettes as negatively impacting his life by 68% Dr. McNamara used a new type of therapy with my son which has been very effective in eliminating most of his tics. His life was limited due to tourettes, but now he can move forward with learning how to drive and attend college.

Dr. McNamara is deceptive. He worked for the other side in my case, completely lied in his report, ignored all my witnesses and therapists. He has a 10 year plus history of supporting fathers but my lawyer hired him. He even lied about his month long trip to India during my case because he knew I wouldn't have hired him. His report was devastating, cost me $100k, and lots of emotional turmoil for my 4 year old son and I.

After two psychologists and one therapist, we were ready to give up finding help for our young adult son who had suffered from a serious, tenacious case of OCD throughout his teenage years. He began seeing Dr. McNamara mid-summer, and by Thanksgiving most of his OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) was gone. Dr. McNamara immediately connected with our son and put him at ease. He is knowledgeable in all the latest modalities for helping patients and employs them, but also has decades of prior experience working with young people. He gets down to business right away, doesn’t waste time, and schedules regular meetings with parents. We cannot emphasize enough how grateful our family is for Dr. McNamara’s help.

My teenaged son worked with Dr. David Mcnamara for 3 years. David has had a profoundly positive influence on my son who has grown into a thoughtful and gentle young man. We found David to be warm and generous with his time; insightful, compassionate and smart in his diagnosis and treatment. My son considers his relationship with David to be a vital part of his life even still. Our entire family recommends him as a psychologist or mentor.

I was a patient of Dr. Mcnamara after a very traumatizing experience from which I was having trouble getting past. He gently counseled me and helped me to work through my fears and emotions. I saw other therapists, before I saw Dr. Mcnamara, and had no success with any of them. Dr. Mcnamara was excellent to work with, quick to recognize my problems and fears and always asked questions and provided guidance to help me overcome my issue. I would definitely go back to him.

Brought my son to him for problems with his dad, who was paying the bill in cash. Time went by and there were some red flags which I shouldn't have let go but I did. Then one day he came to me and said he wanted my son to have a joint session with his dad but my son said "no" and "...couldn't I use my influence to force him to do it?" I said no and fired him, after which he harassed us by phone calling every five minutes. Finally he phoned my son's dad who was sitting on the tarmac in a plane on his way to Hawaii. Then my son had to deal with his father calling him. So yes, it was a very disturbing experience.

This man has been disciplined by the board and is operating under supervision.
