Dr. David Alan Nielsen, DO

In a hurry, no empathy, pushes expensive braces that don't fit properly. No MRI to diagnose the true problem just x ray. Very disappointed. Excellent office staff.

Dr Nielson and his staff are terrific. The front desk person is pleasant and helpful and doesn't make you feel as though you interrupted her. I love that. The assistant took my complaint, did my x-rays while making me feel comfortable ands respected. Dr Nielson actually read all the things I told his assistant so I didn't have to repeat it all again. He was pleasant, interjected humor occasionally, but remained professional. Some Dr's can act like they are just there for the job. I felt like Dr Nielson is there because he wants to help patients. He explained what my injury was, and my treatment options. I left the office with a good feeling about them and feel I'm on the road to recovery with a great team. Oh, and when I called to make the appointment I didn't have to wait. My appt was within days of the call. Very pleased with Charlottesville Orthopedic Center and recommend then to everyone.

Dr. Nielsen showed no empathy. The answer to my questions were vague, and did not help me understand how to deal in a positive way with my situation. He suggested a return visit, which I cancelled. Went to another orthopedic surgeon, which treated my situation in a more clear, understanding, and compassionate way.

Dr. Nielsen took the time to review and explain a recent MRI, assessed my shoulder injury, and recommended a strategy for the coming months. I left feeling confident I had found THE doctor for my surgery. Pleasant and professional staff, too!

Dr. Nielsen has patched me up and taken care of my aching bones for a good number of years. I always leave the office feeling knowledgable and well cared for.

Dr. Nielson took the time to listen to my complaints, observe my ambulation and review/ explain X-ray and MRI results with me. The staff was very kind and understanding. I'm two weeks post-op and walking without a walker or cane. I'm grateful to have found a physician who cares and takes his time when needed.

After a compound fracture in my forearm he said just a brace would do. 4 months later my bones have fused with arthritis and one continues to protrude farther out with time. I can't turn my wrist. He says that's not too bad to live with. No time for questions and no patience.
