Dr. David Russell Ploss, MD

Numerous issues after three visits over 1 1/2 yr. Office filled with people (20) at 10:30 AM. All were to be seen by noon...I spent maybe five minutes with him total each visit (firs two). His nurse practicioner saw me (she was good, and no waiting for her) and suggested a test; she came back from talking to him and said the decision was to get angiogram procedure instead.. I got second opinion since I have had three heart procedures and know something now and smelled a rat. Second one said DO NOT DO THE PROCEDURE unless you get the test the NP wanted FIRST and only if it shows something; they said my symptoms were musculo-skeletal despite being similar to past angina. NP had said she suspected something like that too! Ploss ordered the test despite her input, if he got it at all. Sure hope he is wrong and the NP and the expert were right! He never listened to me or gave me a chance to share any details on either of my scheduled checkups. He seemed to be going through motions… only. Very hard to get a cardiologist here, so many people probably have compaints like the ones you read here but just don't know any way to change doctors. I mean, I had to do a video call to far away to get a trustworthy second opinion...

He was helpful and didn't give up on me. I highly recommend him. I researched him and want to share what I learned. Dr. David R. Ploss is a board certified cardiologist with over twenty years of active practice experience. He earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating in 1987. He completed a residency in internal medicine at University of California San Francisco followed by a fellowship in cardiology at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. He then completed a second fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Prior to joining the Adventist Heart Institute, Dr. Ploss grew the Pacific Heart Group to become the largest cardiology practice in Humboldt County. He has served in many leadership roles throughout his career, including Chief of Staff and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory. His most recent leadership role is Chief of… Medicine for Ukiah Valley Medical Center. Dr. Ploss assisted the Community Health Clinic System and St. Joseph Hospital to develop and direct a community Congestive Heart Failure Clinic in Humboldt County. Prior to this, Dr. Ploss was at the Dayton Heart Center in Dayton, Ohio where he developed the cardiac electrophysiology program. Dr. Ploss brings with him many years of excellence and experience. He is an active member of the Heart Rhythm Society, American College of Cardiology and the American Medical Association. He is interested in the arts and local politics and previously served as president of the Redwood Art Association.

Dr Ploss is the worst doctor I have ever met. We found out my father did not have to have the procedure Dr. Ploss performed after we visited another doctor at Stanford. Dr. Ploss has no reputation and minimal skill in his profession. If you look for a cardiologist, find another one. His credential is poor. Go to someone else if you don't want to be ripped and dead! He should be sued and should not practice.

Dr Ploss is a terrible doctor and my husband's death could have been prevented if he had gone to a different cardiologist. I could have sued him for medical malpractice but chose not to because I have worked in personal injury law and know personally how exhausting the process is. I was not emotionally up to it following my husband's death which left me a widow with 2 school age children. Dr Ploss made stupid mistakes and is a terrible doctor. FIND A DIFFERENT DOCTOR!
