Dr. David Roy Peterson, MD

Dr. Peterson saw me at 6:30 a.m. in the ER. He kept commenting on how he was going to be done with me by 7:00 a.m and get me on my way. Therefore, he seemed to me to be in a hurry. I came in with a serious infection in my arm. He hastily diagnosed me with a strep infection of the skin and jump started antibiotics with IV. He also gave me Keflex to take for the next 10 days.I explained to him that I have had these before and that it has never been strep bacteria. I also told him that Keflex has not worked in the past. He told me that Keflex would treat my infection. He did not do a blood test, or culture the swelling around the lesion, and he also did not do a strep test. Yet, he listened to my opinion and sent me out the door with Keflex.I wound up back in the ER 36 hrs later, extremely ill. The doctor immediately asked if I had a blood test the day before-NO. Turns out I had MRSA, and should have been given a different antibiotic. This caused me to be hospitalized for 5… days, costing me out of pocket approximately $2600. This is part of the reason we are in a health care crisis. Doctors like Peterson are in a hurry to end their shift and make hasty, incorrect decisions that cost the patient and hospital more time and money. Dr. Peterson did me a great disservice and I would not trust his judgment again.
