Dr. David Evan Ruchelsman, MD

I haven’t had surgery with Dr. Ruchelsman, but I had two exceptional appointments with him regarding my right elbow. Despite his well-deserved reputation as a highly skilled and sought-after physician who treats athletes, I never felt that I received anything less than the best care as a non-athlete. Dr. Ruchelsman is incredibly sharp, quick-thinking, and thorough in addressing all questions, making him a pleasure to consult. What I appreciated most was his thoughtful and measured approach—he doesn’t rush into prescribing treatments or recommending surgery. Instead, he takes the time to ensure the most accurate diagnosis first, which reflects his dedication to delivering the best possible care. Dr. Ruchelsman, Was suppose to review medical records and peer reviewed journals to determine the status of my hand and the medical treatment received. He was completely unprepared, had not read any peer reviewed literature germane to the topic nor did he even look at clinical evidence provided to him to compare with medical history. Very poor performance and not recommended

Dr. Ruchelsman recently did an excellent surgery on my broken wrist. He had previously done two successful surgeries for my “trigger fingers,” so I trusted his opinion and expertise. I was grateful that his staff was able to fit me in quickly. Dr. Ruchelsman was as warm and friendly as before, showing me on the x-ray exactly what had happened with my wrist and what he could do with surgery. His calm, compassionate demeanor inspired confidence. Dr. Ruchelsman and every member of the surgical team were wonderful and caring, making me feel comfortable and less anxious about the procedure. At each office visit Dr. Ruchelsman carefully examined my hand/wrist and the progress of my healing, including the results of the hand therapy he had recommended. He answered all my concerns and questions, and I never felt rushed. The entire staff was wonderful, competent and caring. I highly recommend Dr. Ruchelsman.

About ten years ago I had numbness on one side of my ring finger of my left hand. Dr. Ruchelsman did the surgery after a bunch of tests. He found a very rare condition where I had an artery growing into a nerve causing my symptoms. The outcome was wonderful!!! Numbness disappeared and I have had no problems. Dr. Ruchelsman and his whole team was AMAZING! I can not say enough about them. And.. my left hand is now the subject of a journal article.

Awful experience, and had to pay for it too. Doctor seems good, but that becomes irrelevant when patients are also reliant on the Physician's Assistants that does a lot of the leg work and follow up --that was the terrible part!! PA couldn't care any less about the patient, no follow up, couldn't even set up an MRI. Finally had to go elsewhere for complete care.

Dr. Ruchelsman was recommended to me for basal thumb joint arthritis, which had gotten extemely painful. He began with ultrasound-guided shot at the base of each thumb, which worked great. Once it wore off, after further x-ray and examination, my right hand was fixed with LRTI. It's been over a year now, and my hand/thumb is wonderful, strong, and useful!!!

I broke metacarpal and it is healing fine. He gave me the choice of surgery to make it cosmetically perfect but did not push it. Remember, surgeons like to practice their trade. He was fine when I declined and answered my lingering questions. I like him.

Wrong diagnosis and worst bedside manner. Had nerve test that showed I had damage to my elbow. When I asked what was wrong with me he couldn't give me a direct answer but said "I was all over the place". After weeks of vague answers to my questions he said I had carpal tunnel and needed surgery on my hand. And since I had pain in my elbow he'll do surgery on that too. Luckily I got a second opinion before doing surgery. It turned out I had an ulnar nerve issue and needed surgery in my elbow NOT my hand. I shiver to think of what would happen to me if I allowed this Dr to do my surgery. Please get a second opinion before letting this Dr cut you up.
