Dr. David Scott Sarkany, MD

Dr. Sarkany was certified by the American Board of Radiology in 2004. He completed a Body Imaging fellowship in CT, MRI, and Ultrasound at North Shore University Hospital. Dr. Sarkany has served as Attending Radiologist at Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH) since July 2006 and has been Clinical Assistant Professor of SUNY Downstate at SIUH since October 2007.

In June of 2009, he began to serve as the Medical Student Coordinator for the Radiology Department. His love of education can also be seen in the many lectures he provides to our Radiology residents.

At the end of his Cornell University undergraduate years, he received a Bachelor of Science with Distinction. He belonged to three college honor societies; Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Golden Key National Honor Society, and Honor Society of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell (Ho-Nun-De-Kah).

Graduating Cum Laude from SUNY Downstate Medical School in 1999, he went on to complete a one year medicine …internship. During medical school, he took part in summer research, and received a special Dean’s letter for the special Physician-Patient relationships he developed during his clerkships.

He, then, completed his radiology residency at Westchester Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. At his residency graduation, he received the Rita F. Girolamo, MD, Radiology Award for being the single resident that had best exemplified clinical, academic, and research excellence.

Dr. Sarkany is a member of multiple radiology societies including, the American Roentgen Ray Society, American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, and New York Roentgen Society
