Dr. David Edward Seaman, MD

I went to Dr Seaman in Morgantown for hip pain that I have had a couple years. I have OA in my spine and thought maybe in hips too. So I wanted it checked. I was also having some kind of flare up that was new.. pain in joints,etc. He checked my hands, read my chart, and said you have a pinched nerve. He never examined my hips. He never did any lab work. I felt so discouraged. I drove an hour and a half for that appt. Within 3 weeks of that visit I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, Sjogrens. I was also diagnosed with bursitis in both hips. A proper exam would have helped Dr Seamen but I wasn’t worth it apparently.

Dr. Seaman treats my husband for PMR. Diagnosed him quickly, was very through, took time to explain. Very respectful and great interaction with my husband and myself. So glad we found him. Has helped my husband tremendously.

Office medical assistant takes 7-10 days to return phone call r/t question for Dr. If you ask 2 questions, only 1 is eventually answered; this makes a patient wait again to get a response back. My 70yr old friend said this has been her treatment also for which she notified the doctor on her visits more than once . Additionally, I had a order from Dr. Seaman for a MRI in my hand from that day's office visit . The office medical assistant who has been there for years refused to run the order through the insurance question list to get that approval because she had "already shut the laptop." She said I could wait a day or two. (there were still 2 patients after me, so wonder how they faired?) The computer generated approval takes less than 5min as I have seen this first hand because they ask you the screen questions. Note that the office receptionist also tried to get her to finish the task . (It took 3days and multiple long distance phone calls for completion)

My parents have been suffering with arthritis for years. They were going to Dr. Seamen. He kept increasing their pain medicine, but not changing anything else. He was not trying other medicines or trying to increase the ones they are on. Every time they complained of pain, the pain medicine was upped. They recently went to a new rheumatologist. The new doctor told them that the arthritis was not being treated in either of them. This doctor increased the medicine they were on (not the pain medicine the arthritis medicine) and said if it was him he would have started them higher than what he increased them to. After years of continual complaints, Seamen did not listen to any of them. I am so glad my parents switched away from this doctor.

The staff will be the most memorable part of the visit.. they are beyond terrible. It's a shame because I feel they may give Dr. Seaman many bad reviews on here, and the actual time I spent with him was generous and informative. The receptionist ignored me at the window for at least 15 minutes, as I tried to give her my insurance and patient profile. Then she did not want to take the time to make copies of my profile (I had to demand it) which is ridiculous as I was there for a diagnosis. Finally, the nurse (Wendy) is not only extremely unprofessional, impatient, and outright rude, she also is obviously trying to perform work beyond her capabilities and must have skipped some classes in school because she has no clue how to explain test results or pronounce medical terminology. Dr. Seaman was very patient... listened very carefully... was thorough in his review of my history (which luckily the stuff made a copy of for him)... he answered very question and took plenty of time… during the exam and consultation. He seemed very experienced in his field, and I liked his laid back demeanor. I will be returning as a patient for his expertise alone. Bottom line, I felt that Dr. Seaman gave such a good first impression that it is worth enduring his staff.

The staff were. Terrific; very kind and caring. The doctor would not listen to all of my concerns and gave no considerations to the risks to my eye sight and general health. Though I was terribly distressed and suffering from long term pain and an inability to breath or function daily, I was given a minor pain medication written in my maiden name and told to suffer for 2 more months before returning. I am wondering if the doctor would give this same treatment to his wife, daughter or mother. I don't want pain, masking medication, I want a professional diagnosis and a remedy. I threw the script away.

The office staff were very polite and friendly. Doctor Seaman had a very professional and caring attitude. He is easy to talk to and a good listener. He answered all my questions and informed me of some results of previous blood tests that my family doctor had not picked up on. He was very understanding when I informed him that I would rather try using natural products for inflammation first and he even recommended some vitamins that I may be defficient in because they usually accompany the conditions that he saw in my test results. I would definitely reccommend him to anyone.

Dr Seaman was fantastic, however his office staff leaves much to be desired. When you walk in, you have to sign in and sit and wait. I went last week, just to drop off papers. I signed in and stood at the window for 15 minutes before the receptionist even acknowledged I was there. All I wanted to do was drop off papers, get a script for my medication and fill out a medical release form. The receptionist was very rude, she rushed me out and in the process forgot to have me sign the medical release, which is now going to delay my application for SSDI.

Dr. Seaman was nice but the nurse was rude. I have placed several calls for follow up to my test results and never received a call back.

First, as you come into the office and walk back to the exam room, all you see is religious propaganda.I'm Jewish and do not think that a Dr.'s office should shove their beliefs on you as you are captive to look at them. Second, he had the bedside manors of a fish. That is an insult to fish everywhere. I went to him because he was closer to my home. He said that he treated my Fibromyalgia but seem to know nothing about treatment for it at all... Other than to take Ibuprofen type medications and anti-depressants... There are many other treatments out now, I knew more than he did about them. Strike one... Then said it was not a disability to have Fibromyalgia ... If he could spend one day in my body and try to function... Then come tell me it's not a disability... Strike two...I have lost so much because of my DISABILITY my business, my job, my house... and so much more in my self dealing with the pain...I'm not an uneducated person. I have a MS degree and credits for my Doctorate… Degree. Though Dr. Seaman acts like he is superior to you when he talks and acts like you are idiotic sitting there. Strike three... So please when you decide what Dr. you may want to see in Washington, PA.You may want to read this review first...
