I’ve seen Dr Shepard now for over a year. I’m 68 with much experience seeing orthopedic doctors. Dr Shepard listens. You have his full attention. And his shots don!t hurt at all! Big Wins!

Dr. Shephard did my right hip replacement. Perhaps he has learned some things since my surgery but his skills were definitely lacking and he refused to refer me to a specialist in Dallas. I developed an infection within a week of surgery and was in and out of the hospital numerous times for IV antibiotics and further surgery. I begged Dr. Shephard to refer me to a specialist in Dallas and he refused. My insurance would not pay unless he referred me to a higher level of care and he said he could handle my case. It wasn’t until my husband took me for a visit and the operative suture site exploded when I bent my leg. Bloody pus and skin went everywhere. If I remember correctly it got all over Dr. Shephard. Whether it did or not he changed his mind and said he would refer me to another physician. But he said he needed to take a look inside and even though I didn’t want to he convinced me it would be dangerous if he didn’t take a look inside and that’s all he would do. I woke up from… surgery in the most excruciating pain I have ever felt. My daughter told me Dr. Shephard told her he decided to take the prosthesis out and my femur shattered. I don’t know what Dr. Shephard’s excuse was for this but I don’t think he knew what he was doing. I was so sick I don’t remember any conversation I had with him before I left for Dallas, but I ended up with osteomyelitis and I have spent years battling this with many, many more surgeries. Despite the best care I received in Dallas the osteomyelitis became chronic and will eventually cause my death. I have had roughly 100 surgeries on my leg and the only surgery that could get rid of the infection would be a hemipelvectomy. This is a radical surgery that amputates my right leg and removes a large portion of my pelvis. I have considered this when I get so frustrated with pus coming out of the chronic wound in my leg but the doctor I consulted told me I more than likely wouldn’t survive the 15 hour surgery and my quality of life would be terrible. So if you are considering surgery please ask any and all questions and get several consultations with several doctors. I thought I had researched thoroughly and asked all the questions and I still got screwed. If you would like further information please contact me.

Dr Shepard is very knowledgeable and qualified ( check his cress) and he is extremely committed to his patient. He has time to answer any and all questions and makes you feel like his most important patient.
