Dr. David Joseph Wenzke, MD

Dr. Wenzke is not only an exceptional doctor, but truly a great person. He went beyond what was expected to help me through a difficult situation and I will be forever grateful!

Dr Wenske is the best there is and I would suggest him to anyone. I have never met a Dr so informative, kind and caring! It took me three doctors to finally find the best!

This dr has no bed side manner. He was rude, short, and awkward when telling me basically my colon is ruined for life.

He is very compassionate and attentive. Takes the time to listen to you. Will call you personally to check on you. Not to mention his nurse Roxanne is amazing and kind. They are also very quick to respond on matters. You will love having his as your doctor. I do :)

Very rude. My dad was in Riverside ER with some liver problems. He was at Riverside a month prior for the same issues and was told it was not liver failure by GI (not by Dr. Wenzke). So when he was in the ER this second time Dr. Wenzke came in (this is the first time he had my dad as a patient) and was straight to the point about how this was end stage liver failure and very serious. I WILL say, that my family and I agreed with Dr. Wenzke's diagnosis of the end stage liver failure and the prognosis, while the previous Dr.'s he had didn't agree. we all knew it was end stage liver failure. I think Dr. Wenzke knew what he was talking about compared to the other GI Dr.'s we had at Riverside prior. What we didn't like about Dr. Wenzke was his attitude. He was very rude and just didn't seem interested or wanted to take the time to explain all of the details of what was going on. My dad suffered from alcoholism which brought on the liver failure and we thought it seemed as if he was being… judgmental about the situation. My dad was admitted into the ICU and was told he would be dying basically within the month. He was trying to process everything and I'm sure was scared. Every encounter Dr. Wenzke had with my (dying) dad he was very abrupt and lacked compassion. Towards the end of my dads ICU stay before he was taken to hospice, he came in and told us he should be at OSU where they specialize in liver disease and started talking about a transplant. I know he is supposed to mention a transplant or to see if there's a chance of him going on the list but by the time this was brought up (DAYS after my dad was diagnosed, in the ER with the first encounter with this Dr) it was too late. Alcoholics do not qualify for liver transplants unless an exception is made and they usually have to have proof of being 5months+ sober. He said the OSU board would make the decision and he would first have to be transferred there. But it was unlikely to happen (WE ALREADY KNEW THAT). My mom (who has been a ER nurse 25+ years) said "then why are you even bringing this up?" Why wasn't this brought up days ago after the diagnosis? He waltzed in there getting my dads hopes up and shooting them down right away. Now I understand that Drs have to give him that option but what my family and I are upset about is his attitude and the way he spoke to my dad. The ICU Dr. took the time to pull my family in another room and explain to us in detail all of Dr Wenzke's notes and offered her condolences many times and offered if there's anything else we need to come to her. (sidenote: we don't want sympathy, we wanted compassion). I understand surgeons may "distance" themselves but have some compassion! I know my dad put himself in this situation but your job as a Dr. is not to judge or make him feel less than what he already felt. Is this how he would treat his dying family member in their last days? I would sure hope not.

Dr. Wenzke is a very good GI Doctor. I would tell everybody I know about him.

Very rude doctor. Told me not to come back to Dublin but rather go to OSU where my gasto doc is. I did t know I wasn't allowed to be seen at another hospital when I had a critical illness. Told me to just go home and have my real doc get me the meds I need. Keep in mind I was in hospital for 3 days. He was soooo RUDE. Hope to never see him again. Ohio Health should know that this doc is very rude and telling their patients to go to another network. What a piece of work.

Had a great experience with an EGD and colonoscopy. Staff was friendly and efficient. Dr Wenzke started right in time and had a great bed side manner.

Dr. Wenske is the third GI doctor that I have seen in Columbus Ohio. He has been very thorough, thoughtful, answered all of my questions. His secretary returns my calls promptly and is very kind whenever I have questions or need help. Highly recommended.

He listens well to what you tell him.
