Dr. D Dawn Motyka, MD

while dawn is clearly bright and talented, she is narcissistic and insecure which negatively impacts her effectiveness.

I visited Dr. Motyka several times before I left her practice to find a different doctor. While I appreciate her cross-discipline background, I could not tolerate her communication style. She'd dismissed some of my concerns and not believe some of my statements. She appeared iritated when I questioned or asked for clarification of her advice. She'd end my office visit before I finished discussing my concerns.

Dr. Motyka knows what she is doing and provides a level of medical service rarely seen any longer. She is actually interested in your well being and has both western and eastern medicine skills that are superb.

Dr. Dawn is awesome. Smart. Knowledgeable. Aware. Listener. and Gifted. She brings together an understanding of Western Medical Science and that body of knowledge, and from my work with her a high understanding of neural physiology, and integrates acupuncture artistry in a synergistic dance that has amazing benefits to the patient. I very much appreciate the work she has done with me.

Dr. Motyka is excellent, I trust her, and her staff, implicitly, as they have kept me healthy for many years.

The MD listened to me while she was typing, but when I tried to call into the pharmacy for the medications that we ahd agreed upon, and which I had listed clearly for her on a sheet of paper, she denied me the medications, and wanted me to come in again for an appointment. These were not narcotic medications, by the way.

For starters I waited about 50 minutes for my appointment and she didn't even apologize for the wait. My time is just as valuable as hers. She rolled her table in and stood there the whole time "towering" over me taking notes. I felt like she was listening but only to certain things and her answers were abrupt and condescending. I don't feel like my questions were answered. As I was leaving I was trying to clear up something she told me and she snapped at me."that's not what I said". I was unable to get clarification without being made to feel stupid. I left more depressed than when I came in.I would not recommend her. This was just an introduction meeting and the first impression of her was not good. I will be looking for a new doctor.

I have been seeing Dr. Motyka for almost 20 years. She continues to learn and grow as a Doctor. She know her medicine. She was open to sending samples to a lab that I suggested and was very professional about it. She respect the many questions I have when I come in with a whole list she answers each question. She is so good that I have recommended her to others and they have found her to be excellent. I have learned not to be to sensitive and respect her and I always benefit. I am most concerned about her knowledge and that she definitely has. I have seen her grow and improve over the years. It is great to have a doctor that knows both eastern and western health practices.

Dr. Motyka always seems too busy and preoccupied to be concerned with the patient. She does not listen and after a third wrong diagnosis I decided to switch to another doctor (I know, but I hate looking for a new doctor). Not only is she self-absorbed, but I question her abilities.

I feel dr. Motyka is too busy to pay attention to the whole patient. She is also pushing her other practice in Santa Cruz at Scotts Valley Medical which does not seem very professional.
