Dr. Deanna M. Allgeyer, MD

Provider listened to me and worked with me. Gave good advice and explanations, but let me be involved in my care

I had made an appointment with Dr Allgeyer after falling down some stairs and ending up with excruciating back pain. I had already been to the ER and chose her for my follow up. When asked what prescriptions I was GIVEN and had been taking, I replied. When asked about a prescription of Vicodin that was written at the ER, that I didn’t include in the medicine GIVEN to me, I told her, “I didn’t feel it was necessary to tell you, since Vicodin makes me sick and I refused the prescription and the doctor shredded it.” She never once touched my back, felt it, nothing. Fast forward a couple of weeks, my kids get sick. I call to schedule an appointment, but am REFUSED. My children; refused. I was shocked. I asked why and was told they weren’t allowed to tell me. When I asked if it was because I didn’t tell her about a prescription I refused, she snarked, “you said it, not me.” What a waste of my time and what an accomplishment on their part for making me feel like an absolute piece of crap for… being honest. I found someone who actually cared and ordered me to get an MRI done and low and behold... an INVERTED herniated disc on my L4 L5. Followed by rounds of physically therapy and steroid shots. And guess what!? No pain pills!!! Why!? Because I wasn’t after pain pills as she had assumed. I only wanted help and treatment since I was the only one caring for two small children by myself at the time while my husband was deployed. I wouldn’t even recommend the healthiest of healthy people go see her. She provides a seriously horrible image for all Doctors!!!!

I have been at Centerville PriMed Family Practice for 20+ years. When I aged out of pediatrics, I transferred over to begin seeing Dr. Allgeyer. I had high hopes to form a bond with this doctor, seeing as I have many heath issues and am constantly in and out of the office for one thing or another. I really need to be able to trust in my primary care physician. Unfortunately, Dr. Allgeyer has seriously let me down. Although she seems nice enough in her tone of voice, she is always generally dismissive of my health concerns. Her appointments feel rushed. Every time I see her, she shrugs me away and tells me to "drink more water" and to "call in two weeks" if I'm still symptomatic. If I'm seeing you now, I don't want to wait two more weeks to come back for the same exact issue. Seems unnecessary to try and turn one appointment into two or three. I have been her patient for a year and a half now and she doesn't know my name, isn't familiar with any of my patient history or medical… conditions, and doesn't know why I'm in the office until she opens up my file and reads it in front of me. I have been waiting a month and counting now for her to refer me to a specialist, which, by the way, I had to insist on the referral because apparently she didn't see it necessary for someone with a diagnosed neurological disorder to see a neurologist...? When I call the office trying to get information (which I always have to do, because she never follows up with me after my appointments), the office staff seem annoyed that I'm calling. This is my health and wellbeing we're talking about. I'm tired of being ignored and treated like a burden. Trying to work with Dr. Allgeyer has been stressful and very disappointing. If you make your patients feel like they're "bothering" you with their health issues, you should probably rethink being a doctor. I'm currently looking for a new primary care physician.

Great Doctor!

Very professional, personable. Listens attentively. Found a large growth on my husband's thyroid. Turned out to be cancerous. We were totally unaware of it's presence. Found early enough as to be treated early and aggressively.

This practice was recommended to me, as I recently moved to Dayton. When I first met Dr. Allgeyer, she was polite and appeared concerned. However, even though I took a typed medical timeline to my first appointment, she was dismissive when I explained my two main health care issues. I struggle with PTSD, and the manner in which she treated my concerns in this area made me feel very bad about myself. I tried to view this as a transition from my former doctor, so I saw her again when I was sick. She diagnosed me with bronchitis and possibly pneumonia but, even though I'm asthmatic, the only medication provided was a Z-pack. Ten days later I went back, and no other treatment was offered, even those I was worse. Two days later, I ended up in Urgent Care with falling peak flow readings (air intake), and the doctor was stunned that I didn't have a chest x-ray and no steroids had been prescribed. It took two months for the pneumonia to clear up, since it wasn't treated properly at… first. I really try to give someone the benefit of the doubt, but not being treated properly from medical and interpersonal perspectives is unacceptable. I have switched practices and doctors.

Dr Allgeyer has been patient and understanding in treating my four daughters. We appreciate her attentiveness and avoidance of over-prescribing medications.

I went there for the first time and the dr got agitated and raised her voice when i didnt know the answer. She seem to dismiss my concerns that i had. I found her to be unprofessional. I dont need a dr that interigates me. She had very bad bed side manners cause of those issues. Now I have to find another dr.

She seemed to not be so interested in all the tests she would have you go through. I had to ask her if she had received the results of some tests and what the results were. The last visit I had with her she told me I just had a virus and it would go away, well I ended up at Urgent Care 3 days later with a bronchial infection, a sinus infection and could hardly breathe. She apparently didn't take the time to check this out!

Dr. Allgeyer has been professional but also truly caring in helping me with chronic health concerns. I appreciate having her as a doctor.
