Dr. Deatrice Lumae Kellogg

I am an RN and have had the pleasure of working with Dr Kellogg on and off for the past 10 years in several different medical settings. She is approachable, empathetic, knowledgeable and very passionate about her patients along with her colleagues. I am very grateful for her teaching abilities and background. I recommend her 10/10!

Our family member was in a long term care facility for rehab where Dr. Kellogg oversaw their care. Our family member received too many pain pills and they kept the catheter in longer than necessary resulting in new issues. This doctor seemed to do whatever was least cumbersome for the facility/herself even when it made our family member miserable. Masking symptoms instead of addressing them seems to be Dr. Kellogg’s specialty. Communication was lacking and seemed to be inconsistent between doctor and staff. We couldn’t wait to get our family member home to see their regular doctor. Our family member was in this facility for two months and this doctor ignored multiple requests from the family. Thank goodness for caring nurses and a great nurse practitioner!

I'm a caregiver and DPOA for an elderly person in Springfield, MO, where Dr. Kellog now practices. Dr. Kellog was seeing my loved one in 2013 in a long term care setting, and I found Dr. Kellogg to be evasive, dismissive and condescending. She made medical decisions such as changes in medications for my loved one who has dementia without first discussing these decisions with me as DPOA. It was weeks after the fact, that I learned that one new medication had been prescribed by Dr. Kellogg and was being administered without my knowledge. I selected 1+ hour wait time, because it took five days for Dr. Kellogg to first see my loved one after admission into the care community from the hospital. I am not surprised to see other negative reviews from Dr. Kellogg's past practice in Belleville, IL. My only surprise is a positive review from 2014, when Dr, Kellogg was no longer practicing in Belleville, IL, to my knowledge. Therefore, I felt compelled to also add this review. I do not… believe it is unrealistic to expect physicians to discuss care plans for elderly dementia patients with their family/caregivers/DPOA before action is taken, especially when there is no emergency.

Caring, empathetic, goes out of her way for her patients. She understands geriatric patients and has the experience to back it up. My guess is the other complaints were from family members that were unrealistic and complainers.

This dr stated she would not care for a family member in a long term facility because another family member was "rude" to her - She got her feeling hurt -needs to change professions

This is the most arrogant, unconcerned, cruel doctor i've ever had to deal with in my life. I don't think she has a real practice but lives off the suffering of elderly patients that are not able to choose their own docs. She is truely the armpit of medical professionals.

This doctor was responsible for my father in a nursing home.We dealt mainly with PA from Kellogg's office, but there were several times we wanted to consult with Dr. Kellogg personally about my father's care.The few times we were finally able to secure an appointment with Dr. Kellogg directly, we were left waiting for hours for her to finally show up. She would never directly answer any of our questions and the entire time we were rushed, like she had better things to be doing with her time and she never answered any of our questions.Though her PAs were nice and helpful, we wanted access to a doctor when we needed it, and after our last encounter with Dr Kellogg we got his care transferred to another doctor and it has been much better.Dr. Kellogg may be medically intelligent, but treats her patients very rudely and is always rushed and never personable.If you are like us and actually care for your loved one in a Nursing Home and actually want to be able to discuss their care with a… doctor, DO NOT leave them under the care of this doctor (Kellogg).

Dr. Kellogg does not take the time to visit residents in Four Fountain Nursing Facility in Belleville. Due to her lack of concern and job a resident has passed due to her not seeing these patients. Five weeks has gone by and she has not one time made it in to the facility!
