Dr. Deborah A Satterfield

Dr Satterfield was my mother’s doctor. After my mother had a series of small strokes, which by observation it was clear had impacted her cognitive abilities, Dr Satterfield was slow to respond. She finally agreed to order a CT SCAN which revealed TIA’s- small strokes, and yet she refused to refer my mother to a neurologist and when my mothers cognitive impairment increased, she did not re examine her and only prescribed multiple anti psychotic meds that only exacerbated the problems and eventually landed my mother in the ER due to acute pharmacological intoxication. When we pleaded with her to refer us to a neurologist she responded with: “you won’t get in for 6 months” and this was 3 months after the initial emergency. If she had referred earlier, we would have had more appropriate care and been able to create a more comprehensive and effective care plan for my mother. Instead we lost valuable time that negatively impacted my mothers quality of life. Dr Satterfield let my mother down… and my entire family.
