Dr. Deloran La'gwen Courtne Wilson, MD

If you're planning an appointment with Dr. Wilson, I'd encourage you to reconsider. Dr. Wilson lacks empathy, provides sparse guidance, and in my experience does not treat her patients in a caring manner. I had an appointment with Dr. Wilson via Telehealth to evaluate a mental health diagnosis. I was met with a cold introduction from Dr. Wilson, and then proceeded to tell her why I was there and what my symptoms were. Throughout the entire time, I was listening to symptoms, Dr. Wilson would ask me questions in such a harsh way it felt like I was being put on trial and considered a liar. This made it very difficult to interact with her and explain what my symptoms were as I had to tip-toe over every word I used to describe my symptoms. I was hoping for guidance and support from Dr. Wilson, but instead, I was given a psychiatrist critical of my symptoms and questioning my integrity. To readers: don't make my mistake, if you've been scheduled with Dr. Wilson, find a new clinician.

Was late for both appointments I had with her. With telehealth, she has her camera off for 2/3 of the visit and doesn't say why. Very awkward to be on camera when you're just talking to a blank screen, especially talking about painful and difficult things. When she finally turns her camera on (randomly, without warning), she's in sweatpants/sweatshirt which felt really weird. Instead of talking me through options and asking me for my input, she just asked me what I wanted to go on. Uhhh... Aren't you supposed to tell me that? She also seemed to be frustrated with her computer but since she was off video it was very awkward and anxiety-stoking to have her making annoyed vocalizations while taking notes. She ended up re-prescribing a med that I'd had a bad reaction to and tapered off of a few weeks prior. I had another incredibly bad reaction a few weeks into it and when my therapist asked me to call Dr. Wilson to check in I couldn't even bring myself to because she was so distressing… for me to deal with. Found a new provider at a different practice who is leaps and bounds better.

I had an Zoom appointment with Dr. Wilson that I had waited a whole month for. She did not turn on her camera for the first half of the appointment and she was cold and rude the entire time and she acted like she couldn’t care less about what I had to say. If you are looking for compassion, this is not the psychiatrist for you.

Where do I begin? She has the bedside manner of a cold piece of cheese. She is snarky and trite. There is not an ounce of empathy in this women's body! Dr. Wilson is in the wrong profession and should stay clear of people.

I found Dr. Wilson very quiet and hard to read at first, but because I already had a therapist and was only seeing her for medication, I didn't worry to much about it. But then she actually helped me navigate a difficult period of breakthrough symptoms and medication adjustments to try to control them. Her style is unusual--she doesn't express empathy, for example, but what could seem like cold detachment was actually useful to me in my depressed and anxious state. I didn't have to worry about her feelings--about pleasing or disappointing her. If she were the first doctor I'd seen and I were in a crisis, I might have had a harder time with her approach, but she's competent and patient, and it's ultimately been a worthwhile therapeutic relationship.

Where to begin. This is a certified medical doctor without basic social skills. I got one of the coolest receptions from her I can remember having. During our session she was extremely condescending to me and everything I said. No, this is not an exaggeration. I don't know how this person got through medical school. My experience recalled what I learned from a fellow student with friends in the medical field: that often people attracted to the psychiatric/psychology professions are people with serious problems themselves. An unsettling thought.

I have have had better experiences talking to a wall. Uncaring and unprofessional.

Dr. Wilson saw an 18 y.o. patient of mine in the E.R. she was brusque with the patient and when the patient's mother asked Dr. Wilson to try a different approach her response was: "This is the way I roll" ... totally inappropriate!
