About Me
After attending Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island for my undergraduate studies and medical school, I did my internship at San Francisco General Hospital, California. I joined the Permanente Medical Group in 1977 and have been a staff physician in the emergency department in Walnut Creek since then. I am board certified in emergency medicine. I have also worked in the Orthopedic/Trauma follow-up and the Minor Injury Clinics. I am a member of the Alameda-Contra Costa Medical Association. Since I grew up in Hong Kong, I am bilingual in English and Cantonese.
I feel privileged to work for Kaiser Permanente, an organization which values the delivery of high quality, integrated, personalized health care to our members, as well as preventative health maintenance. In our group practice environment, we all benefit from specialists who come together to develop clinical guidelines and keep current with the best medical practices. This is especially …important in the practice of emergency medicine. I am also proud of our group’s innovations and the use of technology to help us manage information and communications, such as the development of the computerized medical records, electronic prescription ordering and consultation requests.
I believe that in order to provide quality care, it is essential for health care providers to understand their patients well. It is also the health care providers’ duty to help patients understand their medical conditions and help them be active participants in their health care decisions.
My husband and I have raised two children, one pursuing graduate studies in social work and the other in marine ecology. In my leisure time I enjoy traveling, wildlife viewing, hiking, music, and needlepoint. I also enjoy using the computer. Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews
Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.
Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.
Your feedback is highly valued and we encourage you to contact our support team should you encounter any issues.
