Dr. Denise Ann Brachmann, MD

I've had Brachmann as my psychiatrist for many years. I've always had issues with her. She never listened to me when I'd tell her that I wasn't feeling better - it was always "let's try this med" or "we'll up your dosage" and then when I would hit the max dose of something and I'd still come back and say it wasn't working, she'd tell me "well, you're at the highest dose I can give you." It was a never ending cycle. It also takes her 10 business days to refill a prescription so plan accordingly if you do end up - for whatever reason - choosing her. Most recently my biggest complaint is it has been OVER A MONTH of no prescriptions currently because I haven't had an appointment. I've emailed multiple times requesting a new refill and letting them know that the lack of medications are dangerous and I went through severe withdrawals the first 2 weeks being off the medication.. I'm talking in the emergency room, off of work for 2 weeks.. I was supposed to finally see her tomorrow and I get… an email saying they are rescheduling for now Friday. I send an email in response expressing my concern and I was met with "I scheduled you for a video visit." The lack of concern and care is absolutely disgusting and you should stay away from her.

Dr. Brachmann was more interested in a ever-churning list of medication prescribing than she was in my mental wellness. The answer to everything was -- add a new drug. When I resisted, she became insulting. The other reviews here are older. Apparently the pattern is consistent over years, but she stays in practice.

Don't expect Dr. Brachmann to listen to your concerns. She will not listen to you, nor will she ask you appropriate questions. She does not establish good rapport, rather she leaves you feeling frustrated and upset. She does not listen to what you have to say, about your past experiences, and though she is a trained doctor, she believes it's her way or the high way, no exceptions. I wouldn't recommend dr. Brachmann to anyone. Stay away.

Horrible doctor, took phone call while in session. Canceled session to re-schedule 10 min before appointment. Unclear wth diagnosis and does not like to be questioned about diagnosis.

I was doing great in college and working two jobs when my family doctor suggested I see a psychiatrist. He thought I was bipolar because of my rapid speech and the fact that my ideas jumped around. She immediately agreed with his diagnosis, before she got to know me. Within a few years, I dropped out of school, couldn't get a job or hold one, was hospitalized many times, became suicidal, and started cutting my arms. I ended up on disability. I had no quality of life due to the constant addition of more bipolar medications that weren't working, but had serious side effects. Eventually, I got scared and went to a different psychiatrist. She diagnosed me with ADHD and Borderline Personality Disorder. With adderall and DBT counseling, my life has gotten immensely better. I'm graduating college in January, and then I will get a job and be off the disability that I thought was permanent, with my last psychiatrist and current therapist's blessing.

Over prescribes serious medications including long term use of benzodiazipines with little to no time spent.

I have never been so mistreated in my life. I went in with simple depression issues and winded up being misdiagnosed as bipolar!!! She said I was classic text book bipolar and started me on meds that made matters worse. I saught out a different doctor and cognitive therapy made all the difference. No meds and enjoying life. I felt like I was a test subject for her need to test lamictal!!!! She screwed up my metabolism however. Go with your gutt!!!! See someone else....don't risk it please. Hope this helps someone else.
