Dr. Denise Davis

I went to Dr. Davis for 5 years and my results were ok. The medications I was prescribed helped moderately. However her method of practice is very clumsy and rushed. It felt as though I was dealing with a nurse practitioner and not a psychiatrist. Like I was visiting a drive-through for pills. Our meetings consisted of her forgetting our pervious sessions and what my problems were, and what I was being treated, and what I have been doing as of my last visit. We basically started each sessions as if it was my first. I was frequently asked if I wanted different medications instead of adjusting dosages. Dr. Davis was very prone to suggestions or questions, taking them as orders/demands. I often had the feeling that I could just say "prescribe me X drug at Y dosage" and she would just agree to it. Because of this I had to be careful what I said and how I said it. We didn't work to resolve anything, just manage symptoms and side-effects of medications. I only saw real progress after… visiting inpatient and outpatient programs. The doctors I worked with added another diagnosis that should have been obvious to a psychiatrist. They also pointed out that the drugs I was on were not effective at treating my previous and new diagnosis, potentially exacerbating my problems. Dr. Davis is a very nice lady and cheerful, easy to get along with too. However it really wasn't the greatest time spent for me, my own anxiety keeping me from trying a new doctor. She has now left the practice I visited which has forced me to find a new psychiatrist.
