Dr. Denise Michelle Kirkner-Vourlos, MD

Dr. Vorlous rushes through every appointment like nothing I’ve ever experienced. After recurring miscarriages and asking about further testing, she made me feel defeated and did not welcome any questions. She has a very rude, sassy, “let’s just wait and see” approach, and does not make you feel heard or welcome. I write this because I do not want any other woman to experience what I have with this doctor.

Worst medical experience. As a medical professional myself, I was beyond disappointed with my appointment with Dr. Vourlos. I had my 2 year old with me and had traveled far to go to this appointment after waiting 2 weeks to get in (I was experiencing an acute condition and was an existing patient so I thought i could get an appointment with a Signature provider but was left to wait 2 weeks and essentially had to treat myself with over the counter medication which pretty much cleared up the infection, so I was told only a culture would be done, they wanted to for go the full well visit exam due to the past infection, I demanded to receive a full exam as opposed to having them essentially just check my work, this request seemed to have upset Dr Vourlosfor what I can only think was motivated by her lack of ability to bill me for another visit). Dr Vourlos proceeded to complete the exam in a rushed manner, with my 2 year old son on my lap without any compassion or kind bedside manner. She… appeared irritated by the request to complete an exam as though time was of the essence when I was the only patient in the waiting room or patient rooms at the time... acting as though I had inconvenienced her she left me feeling completely violated and not cared for at all.

I went to Dr. Kirkner due to an ovarian cyst. She rushed the appointment, didn't take time to answer my questions, and made me feel like I was making up my pain. She didn't listen to me as a patient and didn't explain why she was treating me how she was. Left the appointment very upset and seeking a better second opinion.

I was very upset with my appointment with Dr. Vourlos. I felt that she was rushing to get me out of the room and I did not feel welcome to ask questions. She did not explain what she was doing during my examination, which made me very uncomfortable/ as if I was not a part of my own health care. She recommended follow up testing but did not explain why or how she came to the conclusion that that was necessary. I would have appreciated much more education during our time together, rather than me having to do my own research.

I was referred to Dr. Vourlos in 2015 after another OB said I needed a total hysterectomy (at 37 with no kids) due to fibroids. Dr. Vourlos performed a myomectomy in 2015 which allowed me to have two kids that before meeting her was"not possible" While bedside manner is important, I think more focus should be on her medical skills; which in my opinion, are top notch! Dr. Vourlos is very direct which may cause some of these negative comments but that's one of the things I appreciate most about her. Here's my suggestion- overlook these negative comments and make your own opinion based on her clinical soundness and her ability to be direct.

Very poor manner with patient, made me feel as if I knew nothing. Did not have good experiences using her as my primary when I had my first child. When I asked questions she acted offended and came across as very arrogant.

Does not use any pain reducers when performing circumcision on babies. When I asked her about the percedure, she was very rude. I chose not to have her perform it, and I would advise you not to either.

She is cavalier and really doesn't take the time to get to know her patients or to review their charts. She came in to see me and it was clear that she had not read my chart and then she made a bad decision for me because she didn't know my history. Perhaps she has good medial knowledge but she doesn't take the time to apply it. I was very disappointed in her because the rest of the doctors in her practice try hard.
