Dr. Denise Antoinette Leonardi, MD

Doctor has retired from family practice.

I can give her nothing but the highest marks. But what do wwe do now that she has left Family Practice and the Las Cruces area???

I was an uncontrolled diabetic when I contracted MRSA from a lanced boil (boil was lanced by my Dermatologist). Dr. Leonardi was my primary care physician. I was on disability for 5 months and then was able to go back to full-time employment. Without Dr. Leonardi's care, I would be pretty much disabled and unable to work.

Dr. Leonardo is a VERY caring, dedicated, and knowledgeable physician, but has a little trouble staying focused. I agree that she might need to listen fully before coming to a conclusion. I also make early a.m. appts to avoid the back-up later. The office lacks efficiency and organization, always forgetting or losing things, i.e. paperwork. I do not know if she does not pay them enough as there is a lot of turn-over. With a doctor who is brilliant, but scattered, she needs a top notch staff.

Dr Leonardi is a solid & knowledgeable GP. And we like her style. But she seems way overcommitted. We try to avoid afternoon appts, since she seems to get further behind as each day wears on. And she gets lots of interruptions (office issues etc) during her pt time. We've seen her 9+ yrs, and the office/practice management/staff/etc has improved over the years, but is still sub-par, especially for a 3-MD + 2-PA practice.

Needs to listen to patient and not talk over them. The patient knows more about how they are feeling than she does - needs to listen.
