Dr. Denis A Bouboulis, MD

I am seeing many of the same exact story as mine with this Dr and office . So I know it’s def not just me ! I had the worst experience with this Dr office . The dr knows about Lyme and co infections , but he claims to not know what goes on at his front desk . ? He also takes on way to many patients and cannot keep up or Remeber what the last convo or spot was then have to spent another 700 dollars to see him again . No one gets back to you , certainly no one with medical background . They give you back and forth answers and nothing makes sense. I have been taken by many drs , but this one is just as bad . I had gotten so bad that I ended up having bartinella encephalitis, and now am with someone else that’s helping me . But to have been seeing this Dr for 8 months and got no where but worse . So beyond medical malpractice . I also had a drug allergy and was told my the receptionist that I had allergies or a flu .? lol . And then I had to wait 4 weeks again to see what else could be… done . The office manager Brittney is a real miserable b….! And the assistant looks as if she needs a dr ! I hope no one else keeps getting taken for . Please do not go to this dr . ! The reviews say it all . They have no one to call you back . And I left message after message saying I had an allergy , to antibiotic and I was rudely ignored and then payed 500 dollars again to talk about that . It’s a crime to take advantage of sick people .

Genuinely never known a doctor to care less about helping people. It’s impossible to get in contact with him, he never refills meds, and he wrings thousands out of pans/pandas families because he knows they’re desperate. I implore you to stay away

One star ONLY because we got the confirmation dx for our son and a minimal order for labs. Thank God we did labs locally rather than at the office or else we would have never received the results. Their financial policy is hogwash and quite frankly, fraudulent. Communication with the doctor is non-existent if you are not face to face, even when calling about prescription concerns and reactions to prescriptions. Communication with office staff is horrid - calls never returned, emails ignored, faxes ignored, requests from primary referring physician for notes and lab results was beyond delayed and we had to jump through hoops to try and obtain them. I was told my son's case was not as severe or as important so they would get to sending notes/results when they get to it. I canceled all future appointments at that point. I would never recommend this office. Seeing Dr. Bouboulis was a complete waste of our time and money.

Dr is knowledgeable but it is next to impossible to reach anyone with a question or get test results.

Dr. Bouboulis has very effectively treated 3 members of our family for lyme and associated serious co-infections. His knowledge and expertise in these areas is unmatched. In our most extreme example, our son developed a neurological condition downstream of these co-infections which left him unable to walk. Dr. B was able to diagnose the neurological condition almost immediately, refer us to an expert neurologist, and deliver life-changing treatment. It is no exaggeration to say that he saved our son's life. Furthermore, he is a caring, thoughtful practitioner obsessively concerned with his patient's well-being. He is the finest specialist we have ever had the good fortune to work with.

Dr. Bouboulis came highly recommended. Unfortunately many members of my family have been struck down with Lyme as well as other tick borne diseases. A prior expert in chronic Lyme dropped the ball, testing everyone only for Lyme. Dr. B was very thorough and left no stone unturned. Be prepared; most insurance comp do not cover the cost of the specialized blood tests nor the Dr's relatively high office visit charge. Its well worth the expense. Finding a competent diagnostician of Dr. B's caliber that still works with insurance is highly unlikely. That being said getting through to Dr B w a simple follow up question or a serious problem is nearly impossible. There have been a number of occasions where contrary instructions were given and it took days to receive any response. The front desk doesn't accept emails or voicemails. I agree with other reveiwers, the front desk often treats patients as a necessary annoyance not as the victims of a horrible disease. There is no doctor on… call if Dr. B. is unavailable or on vacation. Patients are on their own. As most PCP's have no experience in this field, it doesn't seem conscionable to abandoned patients in this manner. Bringing in a partner may not be a possibility but hiring a physician's assistant or a nurse practitioner to aid the doctor outside of office hours, (which are VERY limited), is common practice. Not doing so seems to indicate a lack of care for his patients' well-being. Perhaps the unwillingness to accept emails and voicemails is a liability issue. But surely there must be a way because others have found this balance.

Dr Bouboulis has been instrumental in our sons treatment of Pandas and Bartonella. We travel from upstate NY for his care, alongside many other families from even farther away.

Sometimes it's almost impossible to get through the office. They don't answer the questions asked and takes several calls back and forth to get an answer. Recently I called a few times to see if daughter's blood test was back and it her medications would change. They called to say the emailed results, but never answered about the medication. Several phone calls to them again telling them one ofbtge tick virus was out my daughter's system and asking if all meds still had to be taken they saud I had to schedule a phone consult. So naturally, they miss the phone consult appointment time(this has happened all three out our phone consults and two of them the office called a completely different day. A 30 second phone call to tell us one med can be dropped. They could have answered that simple question two weeks earlier. I am currently awaiting letter to be sent for my saufgrers disability office at school for verification of chronic illness. On the firm it says it takes 10-15… Business days. On this day and age it's going to take almost 3 weeks? Minimum wait for office visit is 45 min. We have even waited up to 2 1/2 hours

My son has been seeing the Dr for over a year now. I find the office staff to be courteous and helpful. My son has a chronic illness and he has been spot on with his help, diagnosis and treatment. As some one who has worked in the health care field for over 30 years, I understand the stress and exhaustion that staff are under. We all have our moments!

I paid $1,000 out of pocket each for my 2 children to see Dr. Bouboulis. After waiting each visit 1.5 hours to see him for my kids who have Lyme, I realized what is going on here. The front office desk staff is too busy talking to themselves and taking selfies while people are waiting in the waiting room and examination rooms that are all full to the max to care. Yes, selfies people. There are two people working the front desk as you walk in (on the right side) that seem quite annoyed to help you from the moment you walk in. One lady can't understand you and makes you repeat your sentences over and over while the other is a little bit better (Meghan), but Meghan is the official gatekeeper and will refuse to give messages to Dr. B that are deemed urgent because, well, he just came back from vacation. She will tell you that you can make an appointment to speak with him as a follow-up a month out at an additional cost, but only if you are lucky. If you don't have pneumonia you will get… while sitting in his waiting room because they don't hand out masks to the hackers (this is when I saw the two girls doing selfies). On top of this, if you want a prescription filled, they are entered manually instead of electronically like most doctor's offices by some nurse who has a message on her voicemail that arrogantly states it may take 48 hours to fill your prescription. Really? Is this even legal? It definitely isn't ethical and smacks of laziness. Our first prescription took 3 days to fill, and that was like an act of God, because I had to call the nurse 5X to get it filled. Dr. B seems like a highly competent doctor, but my God, he needs a complete overhaul of his front desk staff and nursing staff and fill it with people who actually give a sh*t about their jobs. Go elsewhere.
