I started to write a long review of my botched hip replacement but I deleted all of it. It's taken me 5 years since Dr McGee did a replacement surgery in Sept 2013 to finally give a rating. Not all hip replacements go well and in my case Dr McGee gave up on me after a year of post ops and couldn't figure out what was wrong and said "you are the way you are". Well, I wasn't giving up on myself and sought a 2nd opinion from a leading hip replacement surgeon in the area and he discovered on ultrasound that the cup had slipped out of the socket causing the psoas tendon to shred itself rubbing over the edge...2 years from the original surgery I had a revision which went well but my new doctor discovered my tendon that moves my leg laterally was gone. So yet another surgery to repair that. Dr McGee made me feel like it was all my fault, even suggesting that I join a gym to push my leg harder. I knew immediately after surgery when I tried to pick my leg up to put on my slipper in the… hospital something was wrong. The thing to know is don't be in a hurry, do your homework and never give up on yourself when you know something is wrong. The botched hip replacement ruined my leg, I'll never jog or run, sports are out. I am grateful that it has been rebuilt by my new doctor and works as well as it has. I wonder how many other patients out there have had this happen to them.

Dr. McGee replaced my hip 5 years ago. X-rays taken for my recent my 5-year follow-up visit, shows the new hip joint is in fantastic shape. I am completely pain free, have full mobility/range of motion of the hip joint and am not limited in any way. Prior to my surgery, I had a page of questions prepared concerning the operation, his experience, what device he would be implanting, etc. Dr. McGee answered every question thoroughly and provided a great deal of additional information. Unlike some doctors, he was not offended that I was asking questions based upon information I researched from the Internet – in fact, he provided links where I could learn more about my specific implant, etc. On the morning after the surgery, Dr. McGee visited me in my hospital room, to personally see how I was doing. At the time of the visit, I was already walking around the room on my own. On all my follow-up visits after the operation, Dr. McGee met with me to go over updated x-rays, inquire how I was… doing, and offered advice on how to maintain my hip replacement. Dr. McGee was unable to see me on only one follow-up visit, towards the end of my recovery. However, his PA was extremely knowledgeable and I didn’t feel I was being passed off to someone else. On all my visits, Dr. McGee was extremely pleasant to talk with, he was informative, and I never felt he was pressuring to end the visit and move on to another patient. If I had to list one negative, it would be the fact the he likely will be retiring soon. Dr. McGee’s skill, caring, and devotion to healing patients, will be greatly missed.

Dr. McGee did a total left knee replacement in the summer of 2016, and I'm going back to him for the right knee this summer. He and his staff were totally professional, and I have no complaints to register.

It took two weeks to see Dr Magee and when I showed up for my appointment I was not on the books and had to wait another 5 days to see Dr. When I finally saw Dr. Magee every time I would ask him a question , he would walk out of the room. This happened again after my MRI. Dr Magee ordered physical therapy and it has been another 5 weeks and I finally went to another Dr. to get another referral because the therapist never received orders, during this time I made several calls into Drs office and was assured the orders had been sent. (after one visit to Dr. Stone I had a call the very next day)

I arrived at St Alphonsus at 5:00 am, via Life Flite from Le Grande Ronde Hospital emergency care. They moved me directly from the landing pad to the hospital room. I was evaluated during the day and went into surgery at 6:30 pm the same day. The defective hip replacement prothesis was replaced with an new French designed prothesis. The next morning I was up walking in the hospital with mininal pain. I walked again the 2nd day and was transferred in the afternoon to my camping trailer on the hospital campground where I rested and recuperated for 9 days. The staples were removed and Dr. McGee cleared me to travel back to MO via my camping unit. I rode in the back seat of my van and arrived in MO after 4 days of road travel. My recovery has been completely without incident and I am still doing well 4 years after the surgery.
