Dr. Sharma is an arrogant, cruel, condescending and evil doctor -My son had the misfortune of being under Dr. Dolly Sharma’s care. He was admitted to the pediatric unit at Staten Island University Hospital – North after an ER visit. He had severe infection in throat and tonsils, inflammation, pus and throat abscesses, along with high fevers for the duration of his stay. His pain was so severe that he required morphine. He had no ability to drink, eat or swallow so he was placed on IV Fluids. He was on a constant regimen of Toradol, Tylenol, antibiotics and steroids.
Three days later following his only fever free night, Dr. Sharma and Dr. Babar came in early in the morning and decided to suddenly inform him and threaten him that if he didn’t drink on his own they would remove his fluids. It was the only time he had gotten more than two hours of sleep and I was hoping that would lead to him feeling much better.
He has been trying to drink but has such severe throat and ear pain with every sip. We explained this over and over. After unprofessionally taunting and arguing with him – which left him in even more pain, he attempted to drink and had severe pain again. At that point they had his IV and all fluids removed and threatened to discharge him.
His IV port was physically removed from his arm and fluids were removed from 11am and not given back until 1pm, only after I had to make numerous pleads and demands. He was traumatized!! For two hours he was deprived of fluids and meds and left in a total state of panic. This resulted in a temp of 101.4 after finally being fever free for the morning.
Dr. Sharma entered his room and actually started an altercation with the patient. He was not only disconnected from all meds, pain and saline. He was taunted for not wanting to drink because his pain was so severe. Dr. Sharma told him to stop acting like a baby and laughed at his pain. He said he was worried about his liver with no fluids – she laughed and replied “that would be your kidneys”. She threatened him with an esophageal tube for food. As she left the room she told him “you better make plans to leave soon”. My pediatrician was on speaker call and was shocked at the way my son was treated.
Dr. Sharma is an arrogant, cruel, condescending and evil doctor and well as Dr. Babar, her accomplice on duty that day. This child has been in dire pain and afraid for his life all week. He was begging in agony for hours on end for some type of pain relief. This is the most barbaric and inhumane treatment I have ever witnessed. I hope no other child has to suffer like this.
I wound up asking for a discharge the following morning and took my son to NYU Langone – where they are giving him the most amazing treatment. I see more improvement in less than 24 hours than I did all week under the torture of Dr. Sharma.
Please do not take your child to this doctor.
