Dr. Don Buford, MD is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and founder of Texas Orthobiologics, who specializes in Sports Medicine and Regenerative Medicine.He founded Texas Orthobiologics so patients can benefit from state of the art and evidence based nonsurgical treatments for conditions like arthritis, back pain, and sports injuries. Dr. Buford and his trained staffed typically perform regenerative orthopedic therapies in the
office in procedures that takes less than 1 hour. In some cases, PRP and bone marrow derived stem cell injections are used to assist, accelerate or augment the healing response in conjunction with a surgical procedure. Orthopedic surgery is reserved for those patients with the most serious injuries.Background and Education Dr. Buford has been in practice in Dallas for 20+ years and has been voted multiple times by Dallas area physicians as one of the best orthopedic surgeons. He has also been honored with selection to the Texas "Super Doctors" list multiple times, a list that only 5% of doctors in Texas are selected for. Dr. Buford attended Stanford University for the first half of his college career. While at Stanford, he was a member of the baseball team and had a double major in economics and Human Biology.He then transferred to USC where he continued his athletic and academic pursuits. In 1988 he received the Woody Hayes NCAA Division I Academic All-American Award for being the single most outstanding NCAA Division I male student-athlete. After graduation from USC, he signed his first professional baseball contract with the Baltimore Orioles and also enrolled at UCLA Medical School. Since 2008, Dr. Buford has been training clinicians on MSK ultrasound and now orthobiologics as the Director of the MSK Ultrasound and Orthobiologics Course.
