I was so fortunate Dr. Burka was on call when I was admitted to Suburban Hospital for emergency surgery. He was wonderful . Post-operative he explained what he found and had repaired. We're so thankful for all he did and for his assistance in helping us get back to Vero Beach.

Dr. Burka was assigned to me as a surgeon at Suburban Hospital and performed an emergency gallbladder removal procedure for me on a Sunday. His care was excellent and his explanations and bedside manner were very reassuring.

Had surgery for a hernia. His simplified explanation took alot of stress out of the process. He is caring and committed. Called me the night of my surgery just to make sure I was OK. Would recommend to anyone.

Dr. Burka is absolutely fantastic. I cannot not recommend him highly enough for any surgery problems. I met him first last month when he did my Nissen Fundoplication. First, don't let his youthful appearance be a measure of his expertise (he looks like he could be my grandson). He spent time nearly an hour with me in the office and insured that my husband and I were comfortable and understood all the of the test results and everything that would happen moving forward. He even drew us pictures of the proposed operation. On the day of my operation I can not say enough great things about Southern Maine Medical Center, the nurses and certainly Dr. Burka. I wish I could remember everyone's name so I could thank them personally - Deb in the OR was full of smiles, Heather (was my OR nurse) and made me feel very comfortable before and after. Terry in Dr. Burka's office was also a huge help before and after the operation. Dr. Burka is charming, thoughtful, has a tremendous bedside… manner, took time with me and my family and is a gifted and skilled surgeon. I had a major operation and felt comfortable and well cared for through the entire process. I would certainly have no hesitation in seeing Dr. Burka again if I have any future surgery needs or recommending him to any of my family members.
