After 20 yrs + of pain and disability at various times, Dr. Burton fixed the problem. I am pain free and totally mobile. Very competent and nice physician. Many thanks to him

I am supposed to see him tomorrow I don’t know why because I was seeing another Doctor Who is nice now I am scared to death to go to this doctor!

Dr Burton saved me from Chronic pain that resultred of spinal issues. Eight years after reconstructive spinal surgery I am almost pain free. No more pain medication and a quality of life 100% better than before surgery.

Went with terrible pain. Dr Burton said go walk in water and stop going to Drs. since had already had two fusions. I had a ruptured disk and he did not even try to see f any thing had gone wrong !!

Wouldn't go to anyone else for spine surgery. My confidence level for this physician nearly 100%

This man is bought by the insurance companies, does not care about patients. STAY AWAY!

I wouldn't use this doctor, his opinion can be be influenced by outside sources. Spend 5 minutes with him and you will understand exactly. His other great reviews are mostly likely his staff posting for him because no one in their right mind would want to have a doctor like this treat them.

Type of doctor that works in the interest of the insurance company and not on your behalf. Would rather you take pain meds then actual fix the problem. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone that is looking for their problem to get fixed. The only fix you may get is with pain meds. Stay away from this doctor.

I went to him today. I waited almost two hours to see him for a five minute visit. It was my first visit. I have a rare brittle bone disease and I know that surgery MAY NOT be possible, but I have gotten worse as I have gotten older. I have scoliosis and am three feet tall. I have to take pain killers almost daily because of the pain. I went to him with an open mind, and was hoping he'd be the same. He came in, sat down, showed me my xray. said i had a double curve, it was bad but not the worst he's ever seen. He asked if I could breathe ok, I said yes I can. He said well there is nothing he wants to do at this time then and thanks for coming. I said well wait I have some questions for you (it is UNLIKE ME because I am VERY introverted and do not like to ask ANYTHING but I stepped out of my shell because we drove TWO hours to see him..) He said "go ahead" pulled out his phone and was TEXTING ON IT while I was asking questions. I asked him about physical therapy, he kind of… shrugged it off and said well be as active as you can but just come back in three to four years to let me see you again.... Just take Tylenol for your pain. FIRST OF ALL... the TEXTING WHILE I AM ASKING A QUESTION..... beyond disrespectful and so very unprofessional. SECOND, he came in with his mind made up, he was going to do nothing and made it clear he had no interest in helping me. LASTLY, all these doctors want to do is shove pain medication down your throat and call it good, they have NO EMPATHY at all for someone like me. Pain killers should be the LAST thing you offer, not the first. It's no wonder people are addicted, you basically give them NO CHOICE!!!!!! YOU can see my back is in pain, you can tell I am trying to seek other options besides narcotics. Did I expect him to say HEY LETS DO SURGERY. heck no but did I come in thinking he'd have an open mind and give me his time and some great advice, YES. Why even have a spine center if they turn people away. When he left the room I was reduced to tears. He made me feel that hopeless and helpless and that all I could do was keep taking medication and just suffer. I personally know people with my type that are my size, with the same kind of problems that have gotten way way more help than I did today. I am SO disappointed in KU medical center, but MORE disappointed in Dr Burton. I will not ever go to him again, I will find someone else, or get a second opinion. He could have gave me options, he came in already DONE with me because of my disease and my double curve. He was not interested in helping me by offering any type of support (physical therapy referral, back brace, other medicine options). He just wanted me out of his office ASAP. I will NOT go to that place again and I WILL NEVER recommend him. It is SAD when you feel like all you are is a paycheck to a doctor. I am beyond upset and sad at this point. Thank you for wasting my time and my gas to tell me I have a double curve and brittle bones, I didn't need to travel to hear that.
