Edward Vincent Craig, MD

Dr. Edward Craig's clinical focus is on arthroscopy, sports medicine, rotator cuff injury, and shoulder replacement surgery. An internationally renowned shoulder surgeon who lectures throughout the United States and abroad, he has been the designer of a total shoulder replacement system and a pioneer in rotator cuff repair technology. Educated at Princeton University and Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Craig spent his early professional career at the University of Minnesota before joining Hospital for Special Surgery as an attending surgeon. He is also a professor of clinical orthopedic surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College. The author of more than 80 publications, Dr. Craig has written or edited eight textbooks, including The Shoulder, Clinical Orthopedics, Shoulder Instability, and Shoulder Arthroplasty. Additionally, he has extensive research and teaching experience and is a member of numerous professional organizations, including The American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, The American Orthopedic Association, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (of which he was once president), and The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (of which he once served as a member of the board of directors). Dr Craig has been the recipient of numerous professional awards, is listed in Whos Who in America, Castle Connellys Top Doctors N.Y. Metro Area, and is featured in both New York magazine and Connecticut magazines Top Doctors issues. Recently, Dr. Craig was named the 2009 Wholeness of Life Honoree by the HSS Pastoral Care Committee and The HealthCare Chaplaincy. This prestigious award is given annually to a member of the HSS staff who contributes to the quality of care of our patients with understanding, patience, and compassion.
