Wonderful physician
Self-verified patient of Dr. Edward C Kohaut - Posted on November 25th, 2018
His knowledge and expertise saved the life of my infant daughter when she went into renal failure as a newborn. If it wasn’t for his dedication I wouldn’t have had the many years I’ve enjoyed with my daughter who is now a teenager.

Dr Kohaut diagnosed with with Lupus Nephritis at the age of 12. If he would not have treated it as aggressively as he did I would have already needed a kidney transplant. Now at the age of 23, I am still in remission. Wish I could go back to him! However, you have to get used to his personality!
Forever Thankful

We are very lucky Dr. Kohaut is our sons doctor. He has gone above and beyond to treat our son even to the point of personally contacting our insurance company to have the experimental treatment covered which only would have cost us $10,000. This treatment has been the only thing that has gotten our son into remission and we are forever thankful to Dr. Kohaut for caring most about his patients.
Dr. Kohaut is great.

Dr. Kohaut did a great job repairing a problem with my daughter's ureter when she was just 4 months old. He was very thorough, and did lots of follow-up before she was discharged from his care. His bedside manner is great. He was friendly and kind to my child. I cannot tell one how many times in my life I have changed doctors simply because a doctor was mean to one of my children. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found this doctor.
Why is he working with children?

My son's pediatrician sent us to see Dr. Kohaut because he was born with damaged kidneys and he had abnormal test results but his urine test showed he was not dehydrated. Dr. Kohaut comes in, says my son is fine and was probably dehydrated, tried to argue with me about what medicine he is on, then wanted us to get blood work done that had already been done 3 days before the appointment. I honestly don't know if he was looking at the correct file and if he did look at my son's file it was for all of 30 seconds. When I asked about an ultrasound that had just been done he said "What about it?". I asked how it looked and he said "not normal but you knew that" then tried to leave the room until I asked a few more follow up questions. He seems to be the only pediatric nephrologist within 100 miles but my pediatrician has assured me we will see him as sparingly as possible.
