Dr. Edward James Mcpherson, MD

I would like to give 10 stars! I have been seeing Dr. McPherson for the Legg Calve Perthes disease in my left hip for over 20 years. He has done my last 4 hip surgeries. He is extraordinary. Some local orthopedic doctors will not see me because they said my hip is too complicated. He extremely kind and caring.

Dr McPherson did a right sided pelvic reconstruction and posterior hip replacement with custom titanium ball & socket on me due to a near fatal motorcycle accident with crush wounds. He was precise, exact, detailed and incredibly communicative pre surgery and post surgery. His knowledge of anatomy of the entire body is astounding as he helped me with other bodily injuries outside of his jurisdiction. He is a miracle worker and I cannot recommend him more highly. He is worth the wait getting in to see him.

Dr. McPherson replaced both my knees, in 2006. Excellent job! Could not ask for a better surgeon! Both knees are still going strong! Thank you, Dr. Mc.

Don’t see Dr. McPherson if you value your time. My first visit had me there for over three hours, and that was with being called within 30 minutes of my appointment time. Involved a lot of waiting. The next appointment was the last straw. I arrived about 35 minutes before my scheduled time (10:30), and waited until 11:00 before asking the status. I was told he was a little behind and hadn’t seen the 10:00 appointment yet. I proceeded to wait another 45 minutes, and still nothing. I finally asked to see his nurse, who was unapologetic and stated that this is usual for his appointments. She told me it would be at least another hour before I was seen, 2 hours and 15 minutes after my scheduled time. Dr. McPherson is so inconsiderate of his patient’s time and so are the people that work for him. They should have told me when I made the appointment that the wait would be up to 2 plus hours, and they definitely should have told me when I checked in. I did not wait around, but I… suspect the wait would have been more than the hour that they told me. So unprofessional and inconsiderate!

Dr. Mc Pherson is an amazing doctor who is extremely experienced, caring and passionate about his career. My husband was lucky to have his knee replacement surgery done by Dr Mc Pherson and I accompanied him to his appointments through the procedure. I cannot tell enough of his work ethics, friendliness, professionalism and knowledge. Excellent Physician!!

He figured out what was wrong with my knee revision when several other ortho’s hadn’t been able to! And better yet, he fixed it!!

I have had knee problems since childhood. I was advised early on (in my 20's) that I would need knee replacement surgery earlier than most. I have also battled scar tissue issues. I had a TKA and knew almost immediately something was wrong - really wrong. When I finally got to Dr. McPherson I was in constant daily pain, could not use my leg (could not walk on it), my knee would not bend and it would not straighten. I had tried to get help from the original surgeon to no avail. He has saved my leg, I will walk again and I am looking forward to getting my life back. I trust him, he does not crank out knee replacements like a factory, he treats each person as an individual case. He clearly is a very skilled surgeon. I will never trust another person to touch my joints EVER again. If you have ever struggled with Scar Tissue (Arthro Fibrosis and beyond - he is the surgeon to see). My knee revision was complex and complicated. He was my hope when I had none. His assistants, Anna… and Sophia have been a Godsend to me. I am grateful beyond words

Dr. McPherson fixed my knee after 20 years of crippling stiffness and pain and numerous "best" doctors failed attempts. He deserves more than 5 stars for his exceptional skill and dedication to fixing what others can't or won't fix. I search for words to describe what he has done for me and yet it boils down to his having given me back my leg and my lifestyle. I can walk for miles without pain and a crippling limp. I can climb up and down stairs, ride my bicycle, get in and out of my car without a hitch. I am back to being myself. Dr. McPherson is so much more than a master surgeon; he is a scientist to medicine as Einstein is to physics. I literally combed the world looking for what he has given me. I was losing hope. Thank goodness I didn't give up. I am beyond grateful to Dr. McPherson. He has my deepest respect and gratitude.

Dr. McPherson is a perfectionist. I have been a patient for 20 years. He is excellent at revisions. As far as wait times, the worst length of time was when he was at USC. His office team should definitely be more patient minded and understanding.They do cancel at the last minute all the time, and there is no way to actually speak to the doctor. I was told he never calls a patient! This is unacceptable. I gave four stars because of his office staff. The doctor gets 5 stars, but the staff should get 2 stars.
