Dr. Edward M Stephens, MD

I cannot understand the one star reviews. Dr. Stephens has gotten us through some horrible situations with sound advice and compassion. You always feel good after leaving his office. Also, he does not dole out medication unless he knows the patient's, unlike other psychiatrists that my family has gone to. I am so grateful that my insurance company recommended him to me.

After stating my main problems, and spending more time on more visits going into detail, and getting into more problems, I suspected this doctor might be two twin brothers pretending to be one person, who didn't share notes, who switched places when one got too bored. This guy is loopy. The other one star reviewers would probably agree this man almost seems to be hiding lots of boredom and contempt like a flaky teenager as he keeps one eye on the clock because you're on his time and you are not worthwhile enough to be using it up. But then asks you to make another appointment. Lots of visits and no attention seemed payed to any problems I had. I would have been fine with this listlessness if he had any concern for my problems and how difficult it is to spill your guts about them. You get the sense there might be some Mr. Miyagi technique on the way but there wouldn't be anything of the sort. He probably won't remember you or your problems unless you are an amusement to him.

No improvement for 7 years. Good for prescriptions. Have no ethics; when immediate family member let him know a serious situation does not care. Does phone sessions and prescribes meds. Has no knowledge of treatment programs and does not believe in them. As long as patient visits him and he makes his fees, improving pt's life is not his goal. No daily activities or job situations encouraged. He has no shame that he could not improve the patient in seven years. I am sure my relative will be given more dangerous drugs. I am so sad that my relative found this dr. Who made her condition worst and could put herself in either death or deadly situations.

I have been treated by Dr. Stephens for the last ten years, and I would highly recommend him. He is a caring doctor, who wants the best result for his patient. He was excellent at diagnosing my illness, and that is a large part of his job.

Dr Stephens is an excellent doctor who has helped me through some difficult periods with kindness and sound advice. I would recommend him highly.

Dr. Stephens is a wonderful, caring, and effective psychiatrist. He respects his patients and conducts his practice in a confidential manner. I have seen Dr. Stephens for the last 10 years about 6 times per year and I am always pleased with his service. He is a truly great psychiatrist, particulary with men's health issues.

The first visit Dr. Stephens gave me a 3 scripts, two books to read, and I very much enjoyed talking to him. Then when I went to make a second appt. for the following month I had to call 5 times over two weeks to finally get a call back. I made an appt and asked for a refill on one of my scripts since over the two week waiting period it had run out. The secretary told me I would have to talk to the Dr. So I did and he told me he would have to see me again and hung up the phone on me. I thought how rude! Then the secretary called me back and told me that the Doctor no longer would like to see me as a patient. I am very patient and kind. I did not ask for anything unusual or speak to anyone negatively. I have never felt so insulted!
