I saw her on the local news and she seemed knowledgeable, so I made an appointment. Big mistake! While sitting in one of her exam rooms, I heard her screaming at a patient in the room next to me. She even used inappropriate language. I was so shocked, I couldn't believe it. I thought maybe she was having a bad day (although that would be no excuse for her behavior), but then it was my turn. I have never met a physician who is more rude and condescending than she. She even threw a tantrum and also used inappropriate language with me. I vowed never to go back to her again. Then, recently, I received a message from her office in the St. Francis My Care system, asking me to post 3 reviews in order to receive 10% off on her supplements. Well, Dr. Comia, here is your review. As for your supplements, I can get them online for half the cost, so no thank you. Words of warning: if you have to bribe your patients in order to get positive reviews, there is something seriously wrong with your behavior. Adjust your attitude and maybe your scores will go up.
I was just watching Better Connecticut, and they had a segment with Dr. Comia and her Verju Laser treatment. She stated that the treatment is $10.00 for 1 minute, and can bring permanent relief to a wide range of conditions. This sounds like a very reasonable price for a treatment that she guarantees will bring relief for your ailments. What she doesn't mention is that she charges a $35.00 "consultation fee" every time you have a treatment. There was never any "consultation". Her medical assistants perform the treatments, and if you go on the Verju Laser web site, they specifically state that only licensed physicians are allowed to perform laser treatments on patients. Also, she will point out that you need one minute for a certain condition, and another minute for a different condition. Before you realize it, you are getting 8-10 minutes of laser treatment, plus the $35.00 consult fee. She recommends that you have the treatment 3-5 times per week! That will cost you $115 - $135 for every treatment! If you go 3-5 times per week, that will add up to $575-$675 per week. Since the treatments are additive, she encourages you to keep coming back, and you will spend a fortune. It is not a miracle cure and doesn't work for every person and every condition. The results vary greatly. This is misrepresentation. Also, like others have mentioned, she encourages you to purchase her supplements, which are way over-priced. You can get the exact same supplements on Amazon for 1/3 the cost. Many of her patients are older and are on Social Security, and must choose between purchasing their supplements or buying groceries. One would think that a physician would have a little more caring and compassion and not take advantage of those who are ill and at a disadvantage, but in this case, I guess not.....
I went to dr. comia the Summer of 2014 seeking weight loss & signed up for her verju cold laser treatments. She puts her patients on a 10 day detox program which consisted of the most rancid tasting powder mix I could barely choke down. I told her I cant drink it because it tastes too gross and she had no compassion or empathy whatsoever. she made me get a ton of bloodwork. I told her I have high blood pressure & anxiety and cannot take anything that will give me the jitters or rapid heartbeat. She gave me stuff that did exactly that!- and then after the bottle was opened, she said you cannot return them. I wasted hundreds of dollars on supplements she gave me to TREAT me, and when they made me jittery & I could not sleep, etc...I was OUT the money because she won't refund you. I paid for 15 laser treatments that cost me over $3000 and only lost 8 lbs in 6 weeks. When I was getting frustrated & started asking questions about the program because It seemed it was not working she told me I should have gone to her workshop. she does not explain things clearly and then when I would ask a question or double check on something on the diet, she would be very short & condescending. When I asked her if it was the laser that made me lose 8 lbs or just the DIET she had me on, she brushed me off. she told me "health costs money". Her theory seems to be that you have to spend a ton of money on supplements and vitamins if you WANT to be healthy, and if you cannot afford to do that, then you don't care about your health. she insisted that the verju laser melts away FAT & that in her trial, it showed women who lost FAT right after their treatment. She would tell me she would do the fat content test for me but never did. After 3 more visits, I asked her again. She snapped at me "why didn't you tell Yvonne!"- well, I'm sorry but since you are the dr & you are supposed to run a test on a patient, I assumed YOU would direct your own staff! When we finally did the fat test- it was the same before &after the laser treatment..I did not lose any fat. I told her it was not working on me for some reason & it cost me over $3000. She again has no empathy for people whatsoever. She is very cold and rude. It's very very unfortunate because she would be a good homeopathic doctor for people who want to treat things naturally, but I honestly could not go there anymore and be spoken down to like that. Plus not having any free samples - just having her patients spend thousands on supplements to treat them and if they can't take it, she won't refund you. that is awful. How do we know if something doesn't agree with us until we take it? NO thank you.
